I'm seeing Barbie on the 23rd! I wanted to see Barbie before Oppenheimer but the Oppenheimer seatings were filling up really quickly and I wanted to prioritize getting IMAX seats so I'll be seeing that tomorrow.

cool

I loved it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie that has combined pure old Hollywood magic with such important topics- but also make it so funny.

A portion of the movie is the first time I’ve ever had the feeling of playing with Barbies visually replicated before me. I hadn’t felt that since I was a kid, and honestly made me tear up a bit. Thank you Greta! This movie will mean a lot to so many people.

and in my opinion "I'm Just Ken" might have a shot at the Oscars which I know sounds insane.

Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt have already won an Oscar for Shallow.

my post from last night’s Barbie Blowout Party

 i just saw the movie…

the hype is real ; my theater had a early preview party tonight with a pink carpet, photo-op, they were selling barbie cars and dolls. everyone was in in pink and barbie themed stuff…

this movie had the audience laughing cheering, clapping, i teared up a bit at the end… and standing ovation. it was all so well deserved. america ferrera’s monologue (you’ll know when you see it) was so so well executed.

may be one of the best films i’ve seen this year, there was so much attention to detail and nods. the sound track length makes sense in the context of the film… cause other than a few songs, there is only a few seconds of the rest throughout the film. standouts are Pink by Lizzo and I’m Just Ken by Ryan Gosling (and honestly this sequence in the film is award worthy.)

GO SEE BARBIE.

7/10 for me, visuals, costumes, soundtrack flawless but even though I agreed with 80% of the topics discussed it just comes across as patronizing, it dampens the impact of its message by over explaining, it was like it was teaching feminism and the patriarchy to a bunch of 4 year olds. Is it supposed to be satire? Ken and America’s character were the most compelling by far but Margot did well with what she was given, the scene with Barbie sitting in the park with the old lady was so beautiful it almost brought me to tears, It really felt like Barbie was seeing human suffering for the first time.
