there are a lot of artists that are severely overexposed. i really wish we would get an influx of new stars who are actually incredibly talented. but todays world doesnt value that, its more about following trends and praising mediocrity because someone has a a big fan base.

Arguably Rita Ora is a bigger star than Michael was at his peak

I think culture has changed where people care more about their own lives because of the difficulties going on right now. Like mass hysteria isn't really a thing anymore because we've evolved a bit since then to be less of a herd mentality like mindlessly swarming a celeb and fainting and stuff. I mean I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing it's just different, the internet and social media probably has something to do with it also

She's not wrong. Stardom is disposable and almost meaningless, now. It's ironic to say this on a Gaga site, but I don't think an album concept like The Fame would even work in 2023. Any ignorant, talentless bozo with a cellphone can become "famous" instantly now.

I totally get what she’s saying. There was a lot of mystery around the artists when I started stanning pop girls back in the 00s/10s. There was so much thinking into it, speculation, theories. The OG little monsters will remember very well about how mysterious Gaga used to be like we discovered her real name, then there was the hermaphroditism rumor, we didn’t know for sure where she lived or how was her house like, who her family and friends were, how she used to spend her free time, does she wear crazy fashion at home? … I miss the mystery era too
