Beyonce's show in Pittsburgh canceled

The only reason the Pittsburgh date hasn’t sold well is because there was a Philadelphia date less than a month before, 2 shows in East Rutherford, and 2 shows in Chicago. Pittsburgh is not a primary market and most people from that area of the country will be more likely to travel to larger cities. She really saturated the North East with dates and unlike Taylor hasn’t had the insane-impossible-to-get-a-ticket demand to justify that many shows in one small geographical area (not to mention Pittsburgh was an easy travel destination for Canadians which helped justify that show. If she had Canada dates I doubt Pittsburgh would’ve been on Eras’ date list. Bey has Toronto less than a month before Pitt so also no reason for Canadians to travel and if they did it’d be to East Rutherford). It was inevitable that the smaller market was gonna be affected.

The other two shows, as silly as it is to do it this late, I can believe are logistics based because their sales are not anywhere near low enough to justify a rescheduling, especially not when most concerts don’t sell out until the final week anyway.

The tour is fantastic, it’ll still rake in a bunch of money, and I’m positive the two rescheduled dates will make. Pittsburgh was an odd scheduling choice from the word go and I’m not surprised given everything above that it sold slower compared to the other major cities directly surrounding it.

If they are canceling cause of ticket sales then that’s ridiculous. For someone like Beyoncé, people tend to wait closer to the date for prices to drop. These shows are at least a month away.
I went to the chromatica ball in Houston and ticket sales were terrible till the day of then the show sold out. Sucks for fans who bought tickets to these shows.

I understand that a show might be cancelled due to low sales, but what difference would rescheduling the show by only one day make?

I tried to get tickets for Pittsburgh Beyoncé the day they were released and they were all so expensive. The lowest I could find was around $100. Did prices drop before they cancelled?

I wonder if Beyoncé gaining a reputation on the last tour for having expensive and hard to get tickets made people not even bother trying this time around. Renaissance was also much less of a cultural moment than Lemonade, but I’m shocked that this tour hasn’t sold more.

It’s aaaaabsolutely that. Remember her demo vs Taylor (I say bc they’re the two girls known for high prices). Taylor swift fans are typically more affluent white millennials. They’re willing and able to shell out that. Beyoncé is someone who appeals to aaaaall types of demos but many of whom are not willing or able to pay a perceived crazy price (older people would say why, younger might say I can’t). Like, her tickets were only more expensive on resale but the normal price? Not that crazy tbh not unlike a Gaga ticket. But when you have press saying tickets are going for $1000+ that’s gonna turn people away regardless of how much they’d otherwise go. Taylor doesn’t have the same issue bc of the relationship she’s built with her fans + many don’t see the price as something to balk at but something to absorb to attend. Suuuuper interesting.

Kind of reminds me of when Gaga's team scheduled dates in Arlington and Houston....which just seemed like an odd choice. The tickets did sell out, but I believe the prices dropped a lot a couple of days before and that's why they sold out.  I remember everyone was saying though it was bizarre her team scheduled like two locations in Texas, but nothing in Seattle or Tuscon/Phoenix. Seattle would have drew in people from Washington and British Columbia, too.

It's not just Pitt tho— the sales are clearly pretty sluggish in other areas. I do think a lot of it was the Formation Tour was super expensive and tickets were hard to get, so I believe they didn't even try for Renaissance tickets. And Ticketmaster is a big issue-the scalpers buy up all the tickets and then people give up as they don't want to pay a fortune for resale tickets.

*And a lot of people went for the Taylor tickets imo. People usually only splurge on one or two big concerts a year, and Taylor's also touring right now. There is some cross-over between the two, despite twitter jokes to the contrary.

Honestly I WISH I could go to this tour. Such a shame. This really sucks for anyone who did buy tickets
