Read a little bit of basic history. Homophobia as we know it know started with Christianity and religion not so long ago. We were kinda happy in Rome and Greek time.

We, as a whole world weren't as homophobic as we are now back in the old days.

If I might be pedantic, you are very correct that mainstream homophobia is largely a result of Christianity and its viral spread across the world, but it didn't start with Christianity. There were dissenters of same-sex relationships long before then. Hell, Christianity gets its stance from Judaism and its predecessors. There were those in ancient Greek city-states that felt same-sex relationships were vastly inferior to opposite-sex and even immoral. Sentiments only got worse by the time of the Romans. Pederasty can't even be rightly equated to same-sex romantic relationships because it didn't always involve romantic or even sexual relations.

99% of the world is homophobic since the beginning of time, and the end of the world is not here yet. Homophobes wont be the cause WW3 or the end of the world, there are much more important issues that will do that.

this could be true if “the beginning of time” ignores most of human history and only begins with the 1890s. Ancient Greece was almost exclusively gay, the first recorded mythological tale is gay, most historical figures from pre-recorded history were bisexual, and homosexuality was considered to be superior because it was considered more masculine.

No girl💀 I'm not even American. But from my viewpoint he seems pretty "liberal" for a Republican? Him being completely crazy is another thing

Oh thank god :messga:

I wouldn't call him liberal tbh. He's not as far right, socially speaking, as many Repuke politicians but he's just as far right, if not father, economically and structurally

Dude's a literal fascist :toofunny:

But so is DeSantis. I view them both as trash tbh. Equally terrible.

Whimsical bitch

During Roman Greek times, men were only allowed to top other men of a lower status like slaves. But it was not allowed for a Roman citizen to bottom, give oral, identify as Gay, or top another man of the same status. And this is how it is today in the Middle East! Its accepted for men in the Middle East to top a fem boy, but if you bottom or identify as Gay, you will be in danger.

I know historical figures were Gay, I did not say homosexuality did not exist, I said it was not accepted. Historical figures like royal kings and leaders were obviously held to a different standard and did not represent society. Thats like saying the Catholic Roman Empire was sex positive because the king used to have sex outside of marriage!

We shouldnt create alternative history to fit our political narrative..

I don't want homophobes to ruin the world, but if they do, I will watch with pleasure because I know they will go down with the ship. That's how WWII started... and with the anti gay climate of that time MOST people that got killed were filthy homophobes.

you DO know they put us in camps too, right ?

Horny Chicken

From what I can see as an outsider (based on European news, whose reporting is not nearly as biased as the US’), I think Trump will be president again. Good luck America, instead of banding together to overhaul that health system, you constantly fight over non issues like Demi Lovato’s ever changing pronouns. :toofunny:

Desantis is more effective with changing actual laws, while Trump is effective with changing the culture. Desantis focus will be anything thats anti LGBTQ+ while Trump is too shallow to actually care about issues outside of his ego. Desantis will be Trump but more competent and effective? Its hard to tell which is worse..

Gay and trans are not the same thing, despite being grouped together all the time. We need to stop assuming anti gay, and anti trans are the same thing. You can be pro gay, and anti trans and vice versa. There are trans people that are homophobic and gay people that are transphobic. I accept trans people as part of our community, but we need to stop making lgbt all about gay people. An attack on the trans community is an attack on the trans community. Not the gay community. People like caitlin Jenner exist. Its great to support but we need to let attacks on the trans community be known as attacks on the trans community. It sways to many opinions, gets lost in translation, stirs up a lot of confusion when it comes down to addressing issues. I am a gay man, and a trans ally. Although alike, Their experiences are not equivalent to mine, and mine are not equivalent to theirs. I will never be forced to use the wrong bathroom, or be denied something that makes me physically feel like myself. I find it harmful to relate homosexuality and transgender people so much.

This is a bit of misconception that Rome/Greek civilizations were fine with homosexuality. They were more open about homosexual activity but they still demonstrated homophobia by viewing femininity as inferior, that includes the 'receiver'.

Romans particularly didn't like effeminate men and would mock the Greeks for being too feminine. Homosexuality was seen as a phase that didn't allow for equal partners in the long-term. Men were still expected to give up their same-sex partners and marry women. Those that didn't were stigmatized.

It's true that there is proportionally more homophobia in the Abrahamic religions and the cultures they dominated but there's signs of it elsewhere. Confucian China, pre-colonial Zulus, Mongol Empire and the Aztecs had some sort of rigid anti-same sex relationship society where those opposing it could be stigmatized or punished.
