1. Lady Gaga, 'Born This Way', 2012

Few artists have had the kind of impact on the LGBTQ community as Lady Gaga, and few songs have fully captured the joy and resilience of the community as this one. Gaga has called the lead single off her celebrated album of the same name her, “this-is-who-the-****-I-am anthem,” and its lyrics and message have resonated with millions of others in the same way. Though it was released in 2011, the song is as relevant as ever, at once a battle cry for equality and a hype song for a night out. Whenever you’re feeling disheartened, heed Gaga’s words: “We were all born superstars.” —T.C.

And the reason for that is that it is very clear, it says exactly what it means without using metaphors, "no matter straight, gay or bi, lesbian or transgendered life, I'm on the right track" will always be more powerful to the LGBTQIAP+ community than "you are a firework" or whatever cause it names names, it doesn't hide between ambiguous word play to convey a message that could be interpreted in many forms

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I love Gaga so much, she did this when it wasn’t COOL or celebrities didn’t feel PRESSURED to be pro LGBT+, she consistently forced the boundaries, something that could of ended her career in the mainstream, let’s be real. She was really brave, and I don’t need a basic social media post to know where her heart is, her actions spoke lounder than words MULTIPLE times.

Does anyone else get nostalgic when they see the BTW single cover art ? Reminds me of much simpler life, if only we all knew what was to come in the next 12 years lol :fatcat:

A Fried Egg

Whether life’s disabilities left you outcast, bullied or teased, rejoice and love yourself today cause baby you were born this way.

She will never know how much this meant to me, a colored kid.

This. Some may call it tacky cause it's too literal and whatnot but Gaga is making it intentional that this whole song IS an affirmation, a confirmation, and for a me a realization that I was and am not a ever less than anyone :selena:

The lyrics is very clear and the message is very grand. She also gave light to religion and family in this song.
