Why did they think this was a good idea? :huntyga:

The character was already mad at his gf joking about him being gay in the former episode. Now he's making homophobic remarks out of the blue...

It really looks like some closeted dude/ self-hating gay storyline is coming with him...

during pride month too

If You Say So Reaction GIF by Identity

We don't need pride month if that means homophobia is more tolerable outside of June.

Not that this had to do with the the topic it's fiction who cares.

Regardless of it being acting, it’s in very poor taste.

I don't know if you can call it "poor taste" if it's done in order to make the character come across?

The title is sooo misleading it hurts

It's not The Weeknd saying it, it's his character and he's kinda portraying a sexist/homophobic kind of guy

Tbh this is exactly how most of straight man talk in private, they just don't tweet it anymore to avoid the "cancel culture"

I feel like it's making a resurgence in popularity (the word) lol and I hate it

I feel like people are saying “z*sty” now too instead of the f slur so it means the same thing to me now. I see people who use it just as hateful and ignorant. Tiktok and Twitter comments are flooded with it

Well excuse me for not condoning the shameless usage of harmful slurs. :spin: There are plenty of other ways a confrontation like this could’ve been worded that wouldn’t at least slightly irk a marginalized community (heaven forbid) that’s already facing a lot of unwarranted hate, hate including the very usage of this word.

For the record, I’d say the same about any usage of slurs. A non-queer person shouldn’t be saying this slur, acting or not. But I suppose I’m just being sensitive, as always, apparently.
