Yoü and I, that's why it's my favorite song. Self-written, the sings amazingly and keeps improving in the performances, she plays the piano, the lyrics are great, the song is a stadium banger and the structure is interesting. The second part of the song moves on from the traditional structure songs usually have and show the freestyle-improvising side of Gaga which is one of the things I like the most about her. There's always a bit like this in her self-written song or in live performances when she's improvising stuff. I have the feeling that's how the song was the first time she played it, and she just decided to keep that freestyle bit because it sounded great.

her date at stade de france was probably her best tour stop

everyone dancing to replay and the crowd singing shallow in unison is so insane to and proves how shes truly and international icon - shes even bigger overseas

this might be her best vocal to date from a technical standpoint - none of her peers, even beyonce could do it like this

none of her performances will top this one

vocals are perfect, theatrics are top notch, concept is amazing, the dancing is on point, she bangs on the piano like no other pop star has ever before

this performance is the highest point in her career - this one seperated her from the rest of her peers

Maybe you already know of this performance but just in case: the first time she performed it, she had JUST written the song. She didn't even expect it to be on the album, so decided it would be fine to perform it early. The band hadn't even rehearsed it :laughga:. So indeed, a lot of it was improvised. Then it became a fan favorite, got included in The Monster Ball (the superior version) and it ended up as a single.

She explains it in the video:

Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ‎ ᵃˢˢ 🕺

For me it all comes together in Heavy Metal Lover.

• Production is obviously stellar.
• The melody is the most infectious of her entire discography and really pretty when stripped back to a piano.
• You could argue that the vocals aren't strong, but the way she plays with tone and style is a real masterclass. And those harmonies are ethereal.
• Somehow this song always makes me feel confident, even though I don't specifically identify with the sexual connotation of the lyrics. It puts me at ease. It's magical.

Bad Romance and Replay are also clear winners in every category.

100% right, she's much bigger and well-known here in Europe than many other American artists.

As someone who lives in America, I can vouch for this
