she only paid her taxes after Spanish authorities launched an investigation. she still has to get a fine and sentence for this crime (otherwise, other rich people would try to follow her and pay their tax obligations only after being caught by the tax authorities). The prosecutor asked for an eight-year prison sentence and a fine of more than 23M euros. now she is trying to avoid it and claims that she should not pay Spanish authorities at all because she toured the world.

oh so she DID pay after being called out but the spanish authority wants to punish her for trying initially avoid it? and she's saying "well actually, i didn't need to pay in the first place"?

Isn't this the same stuff like with football players? Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi? Or are we talking about something different? I mean Ronaldo and Messi definitely couldn't argue that they were between countries. What's the difference between Shakira and the football players? Cause I don't remember this fuss about it ( or probably I didn't payed attention).

Messi used tax havens to hide earnings from image rights, Ronaldo used tax havens to hide part of his income . Shakira did not pay taxes in Spain at all, she used a whole network of companies based in tax havens to hide her money.
