When Disney starts to host the first official pride/queer event in retaliation, when country musicians literally put drag queens and queer artists in front of their country audience, and the person we thought was the biggest ally of her generation… says nothing.. It paints a picture. 

 

She risked going to jail in Russia for queer rights over there. (Let‘s be real, they would have never touched her at the time, no way.) Today, in her homeland… When rights are literally taken away.. Silence! It‘s easier attacking the Democratic President to abolish DADT when he already was under pressure from his own party than to go after the red states TRYING TO ERADICATE US. It simply paints a picture. 

 

For my part I realized how she finally turned into what she never wanted to be. A hollywood sellout. An industry puppet. But I can see how her behavior in the last months really hurt people, especially ones that were close to her before. 

Frankly, I just don't think she wants to engage with social media as much as she used to. It's not like this is new. Gaga's been hands off with social media for a while now. 

Look, I get it. She is not active on social media whatsoever and when she is, most of the time it's either trying to sell Haus Labs or it's because of some other brand deal. I'm tired of it too; I think everyone is. I don't think the optics are particularly good. Like you said, it's pride month and she's said nothing about LGBTQ+ rights even though so much anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and rhetoric is being passed. I think that's all very fair. 

Publicly addressing it and tweeting about these types of things could've helped, but aside from public support, what else would have that accomplished? Anyone who knows Gaga knows that she stands with and supports the queer community, so her word doesn't have as much impact as Disney throwing their first official pride or country artists bringing drag queens to their concerts. She'd be preaching to the choir while the other two are much more significant advances in queer acceptance and liberation.

Also, let's not forget that Gaga is on an official White House committee now. For all we know, she might be talking about these types of issues behind the scenes with actual politicians and legislature. She also has the BTW Foundation, which she is also constantly working on. Those are also things that have real meaningful impact. So it's not like she's doing absolutely nothing and just sitting around her mansion all day.

don't agree with something another person says or thinks - boom cancelled. And I'm not coming at you -  you may have your reasons why u have done so - since I don't know what the differences were and sometimes it is better this way to erase people from your life if those differences are major.

but I'm talking in general. I see this with a lot of young people that they cut ties with people or family just because they have different opinions about some things and don't agree with everything their family thinks. Even with minor stuff..

I don't agree with everything my family or some friends think - politically or other things in life - I would have to cut ties with basically everyone in my surroundings based on that because we all have different takes on things. We may agree on this, but hardly disagree on another topic. That's life.

You’re right, we need to separate valid issues from our ability to engage with others and build relationships. That’s where most people learn to be more tolerant and respectful when they actively see people reaching out to them regardless of our views.

Gotta love Lady Gaga…an artist  living her best life, releasing what she chooses, picking her spots. I don’t judge her but merely enjoy her existence, as her art enriches my life, and I hope will continue to do so.

I'm not saying there hasn't been unnecessary hate directed toward her in the last couple days. I am saying though that the fanbase is on the defensive and they're treating valid criticism the same way they're treating hate and it really only makes this more complicated. 

I've said it before and I will say it again: she doesn't need you to defend her. She is a grown ass woman who has been taking criticism since day one and she often takes it much better than the fans who think they're somehow her bestie. At the end of the day, we are all her fans. We're not her friends. She doesn't need us taking her bullets. 

She's made some questionable choices, and she's opened herself up to criticism. Let her take it, hope she does better in the future, and we move on. The passionate testimonials help nothing.

My only issue is that no celebrity should be paid to pander pills to Americans given the healthcare landscape in this country. It’s beneath her and quite frankly unethical. Now if it was some new life changing medical technology that was going to be available to everyone and accessible via all insurance policies then by all means promote it! But this is a random migraine medicine previously hawked by the Kardasians lol.  It’s ridiculous and clearly something that should have been thought out more by herself and her team. Most people cant tell the difference between radlibs and leftists, I fear. I read OP and was like “SocDems would never give this much of a ****”

The real ones know being upset over this isn’t attacking the route of the issue, so it’s not worth anything more than a “lol cringe.”
