What are your unpopular opinions about The Fame, now?

Me:

- Poker Face is the best song of the album

- Starstruck is really underrated

- Brown Eyes is the worst song of the album

- Paper Gangsta should have been a single

Not sure if this is unpopular but I hate how the bsides from this album are always slept on in performances simply because she got so many hits from it. :huntyga: I’m ok with her taking out your usual Poker Face or Paparazzi if it means we get performances for Summerboy etc.

I somewhat agree, I think it would be nice to revisit some of the other tracks on tours, or switch it up a little. Would love to hear starstruck or boys boys boys, money honey with a new approach to it.

The Fame is overrated. Only the singles and Boys, Boys, Boys are good songs

I Like It Rough is ridiculously underrated. It literally sounds like one of those legendary songs everyone knows (the beat especially), I can’t believe it’s just an album track (not even a single) that has been performed only once more than a decade ago. With a killer music video it could have been one of Gaga’s most iconic hits. Also the bridge is amazing.

The Fame

I also came here to say that I Like It Rough is so unbelievably underutilized it's almost criminal.

The song is just so so good. It's paid dust and it's literally a top song for me

The Fame has no bad songs. They all shine in their own way. Even Paper Gangsta.

It should have been an album film if it wasnt for some greedy people.

- Less filler and fluff than people say.

- The Fame is imo her best title track (I don’t count monster bc it’s not quite a title track)

- It’s way less original than people say; the best part of TF is the killer hooks all over it. It’s some of her best songwriting and lyricism ever. But I think the vast bulk of the album could have been done by many many drag queen or queer artists. Her artistry relies more on execution and presentation than it does on ideas imo

- It gets slept on but it’s actually amazing when you step back and realize this is only her *debut* bc it’s got so much strong material

- that said, there’s a clear divide between the singles and album tracks in terms of quality and care given to execution almost unseen on her other albums lol I chalk it up to budget but still

I totally agree! When was it performed live btw? I don't recall there being a live performance recording of that song.

Btw, it's actually interesting how it went from being originally a bonus track to placing track #5 on disc 2 of TFM when the Deluxe was released, right after the singles. Maybe it was originally meant to be released as a single for the end of the era a la Love Again? We'll never know. But still, justice for I Like It Rough!

Probably not an unpopular opinion, but it is an opinion that folks dont say enough lol

I love it so much, but as time goes on, it's easily the album I listen to the least from Gaga.

The only reason people discount the album is because it's her debut; it's honestly such a smash. I firmly believe it has one of the best lyrical writing of her career in it.

- For an album that came out in 2008 I don't think it sounds dated, it holds up pretty well.

- While I agree that the singles are the clear stand outs, it's probably one of the strongest debuts in pop music, it's just bop after bop after Money Honey after bop.

- Paparazzi remains one of her best songs, it's just pop perfection. Studio version, live version, jazz version, it's just great in evey form.

- Money Honey is the only bad song on the album.

- I lowkey wish Fooled Me Again was on the album instead of Brown Eyes.

It's a very good debut album, one of the best. I only listen to the singles + Starstruck, Paper Gangsta and Again Again now only because I overplayed it but it's still a nice listen from start to finish.

I still don't like Summerboy after all these years, my absolute least favorite Gaga song ever.

Same. Her other albums feel like they hold more substance. Still a really great debut though!
