Ezra Miller as The Flash

There's alot of controversy surrounding the upcoming DC movie The Flash. Ezra has had issues in the past and they have been in the news quite a bit. Some critics who have seen the movie are praising it, but others say that because of Ezra's past, this movie should be "panned" and recast if there are future sequels. DC has stated they understand Ezra's struggles with mental illness and that they are currently getting help, so they will NOT recast. I'm curious what your thoughts are. Personally, I think they're a great actor and I'm glad help is being provided. Some day, I hope to live in a world without the negativity surrounding mental health, and hope it's looked at as importantly as someone's physical health.

It’s a polarizing topic, on one hand he should be held accountable and reprimanded and on the other he’s a human being who experiences manic episode that’s on a massive platform. If he was a regular person we walked past down the street, no one would care.

If they were a regular person, they'd be in jail.

It sounds like you two don't know what they did

I think Ezra is getting canned after The Flash. WB held onto it because they had invested so much money into it but box office projections aren’t looking good. It might be best for Ezra to step away from the film industry. Then they could seek real, meaningful help and not just stints in rehab for damage control until it’s time to work on a new film.

Hes too gloomy pshyco looking etc to play flash gordon. Not a fitting part at all. The trailers alone are enough to tell. His demeanour, posture etc just dont scream super hero

Gosh Its hard because I have a soft spot for them.  I don't dismiss their actions at all, they have to be held accountable but they obviously struggle and or struggled mentally and that is very understandable. I just want them to make it through this all for the better.

Mental health struggles?…baby this person has caused legit harm to scores of people over last year. Manic episode or not, said episodes don’t need to go that far and they actively resisted any help until they had to do the flash pr apology tour. My opinion is that they’re a douche sh*t about anyone so why would I even try caring sh*t about them?

thank you... I thought I was going insane reading the flaccid hopeful replies in here lol they were a huge public menace and have a history of grooming young girls, not to mention the alleged kidnapping and child endangerment. this REALLY wasn't as simple as a bad manic episode or whatever and to suggest such is extremely ignorant. there are huge underlying, dangerous issues going on and ezra has seemingly received little consequence.

Manic episodes aren't something you can turn off when you go too far. They're experiencing very warped perceptions of reality and what's real to you isn't real to someone going through that. Actively resisting help is nothing new to people experiencing these hallucinations because to them you're the one not seeing things correctly. I'm not saying this because I think Ezra should be let off the hook, because they most definitely need help and the industry needs to support that rather than continuing to employ them. But let's be straight about how mental illness works and not invalidate people's struggles.
