Unpopular opinion: Joanne (2023)

- For me it feels like her least authentic album, since the Americana vibes were pretty much completely absent from her public image up until that point. And they disappeared afterwards.

- Perfect Illusion is the weakest song in the album and one of the worst in her discography. The production is decent and her voice shines at times, but the chorus feels like an unfinished demo.

- The album title refers to herself (her middle name) more than to her aunt, which is why most people misinterpret the themes. I'd say only the title track is about her aunt, and the rest is about a side of Gaga we don't often see.

Not me. I took it right between the eyes and it made a deep lasting cut in my heart as the whole Joanne album. I was quite unaware of Gaga when that album came out and I think I drove all my friends crazy (maybe converted some of them), cause I was so obsessed with her. JWT was scheduled in Zurich Hallenstadion, then postponed and finally cancelled. I mourned during days. Crying over my rented outfit. My whole trip was planned to go to ZH. Early entry, parking and hotel room... Maybe one day I'll see her live, but I'll never forget that first outburst of passion that drove me absolutely crazy about our queen.

Sinner's Prayer is an absolute gem. Top level Gaga song for me. Mark Ronson touch. Just thinking about that chorus after the bridge, when she goes up an octave send shivers in my entire body !

Musically, Joanne made me a Gaga stan forever.

I don't think so. The dive bar version is botched, unfinished. She obviously wasn't ready (or fond ?) to perform it... and finally it didn't make JWT tracklist... I think it's a very nuanced and sensitive song. She was trying also her best on the guitar (which has never be, let's be honest, her stronger asset). Anyway, she's looks so cool and badass on pictures with one of these oldskool Ronson gifted Gretsch guitars...

1. Perfect Illusion is an amazing song to run to.

2. Its her best album, simply because you get to enjoy some of the rawest vocals from Gaga, and I love that.

The title track is a weak link. So is Million Reasons.

Overall though, I love it. Diamond Heart, Dancin in Soycles, Sinner's Prayer, Come To Mama, Angel Down, all great tracks.

- The JWT was her most aesthetically pleasing tour and the best setlist imo

- Hey Girl is the most boring song of her discography 

- The album singles should have been different. Diamond Heart, Dancin In Circles and Angel Down could have been semi hits.

It's been my opinion forever lmao but Sinner's Prayer should've been the lead single. More of the vibe of the album, a bigger contrast (an insane contrast from ARTPOP) to her previous work, etc. Would've been huge imo.

Just Another Day gives me... the most Gaga song she's ever made, the most joyous. It's giving ending credits to her biopic.

Joanne (WDYTYG?) (piano version) w the music video, much better than the album version. 

Diamond Heart is cute but the "come on baby, do you have a girlfriend" lyric I always disliked lmao makes the song less good for me

A super campy cunty Come to Mama music video would've been great. All during Hillary's historic run for president.

One of the Gaga albums I listen to as an actual album least - it just feels a bit disjointed to me compared to others. I feel like the slower, more ballad-esque country sound in the later half of the album is the direction Gaga embraced and that the heavier/rockier bits near the start are things she maybe included just to make the album more marketable. I love both styles but I feel like they're in conflict with eachother.

Perfect Illusion is my favorite lead single.
I thought it was unpopular, but Sinner's Prayer is my favorite song from Joanne (Diamond Heart is second, and Perfect Illusion is third).
John Wayne and Dancing In Circles are least favorite on the album, though I don't skip them.
There are no skips on this album and its one of her best.
Totally here for her returning to one of the sounds on this album.

* This album deserved more remixes and a live album release because that's when the songs reach their ultimate potential (JWT)

* Joanne (the song) has s many layers to it. Really does capture the Stefani era remarkably before the GAGA brand was a thing. 

* The demo of PI feels more like Tame Impala ft. Gaga, so I get why they stripped it down 

* "Angel Down" is perfect as is. I don't get the h8 for this ballad.

* And the bridge on "Hey Girl" is... chefs 💋

I actually really enjoyed this album and go back to it very often 

however perfect illusion had no business being the lead single when Diamond Heart was there and represented the sound of the album better 

I never liked million reasons, it’s kind of annoying for me 

for me the singles should have been 

1.- Diamond Heart

2.- John Wayne

3.- Joanne 

4.- Dancing in Circles or AYO
