The transaction between artists and fans has been shifting into an unfair territory for quite a while now. 

An artists job is to create music, promote it, then Fans discover it pays for their work.

All big artists have done that 10 fold. Spend years getting the record deal, writing, recording, building a strong fan base, revolving their whole life around their craft. 

The transaction was complete when the fan bought the music. But there’s the notion that the artist owes them for paying for their work- “I bought your songs, so now you have to come to my city and perform them for me”. 

Miley put her music into the world. That’s all she has to do.

I get that, but that’s just… boring?

Part of the experience is to see artists live, and if they dont tour at least do some tv performances. People arent just fans of the music. I dont like Gaga just for her music, I wouldnt go see a girl singing jazz songs that I’ve never heard for 2 hours if she wasnt lady gaga. If she released just dance in 2008 with no tour and no performances and no appearances maybe I wouldn’t have liked her so much.

At the end of the day that’s her decision and I respect that, but I understand fans being pissed because she usually gives everything with performances, touring and appearances when releasing an album and this time she hasnt done anything like that.
