It's strange. I'm not as thirsty for new material as I used to be.

Right now I'm more curious about the direction she will take, rather than just blindly hyping myself for whatever she releases. Because we never know if her new project will be up our alley.

I think it's completely reasonable as people simply grow up and their expectations and approach towards important aspects of their lives change along with them. As some fans should but refuse to, tbh

I want her to do what she wants to do going forward, because I know the content she puts out will be good that way. I can’t wait for Joker because I think she’ll OWN the role, but I do of course miss her music. Chromatica was just okay for me.. I know she’s capable of music that is stronger. I’ll respect whatever she does, & will forever stan her.

So they won't count C2C or L4S but they will count ASIB despite it being a movie soundtrack with no central theme, meaning, or era (aside from award campaigns)? :yennefer:

Joanne - Chromatica = 1316* :triggered:

Anyway! Her projects are always worth the wait. Idc if LG7 takes 10 years tbh. As long as she's still active (acting, activism, etc).

and brand collaborations of course :ohwell:

Considering the circumstances of releasing an album about dancing through the pain, a lead single leaked a month before release, and disruptions caused by a global pandemic stalling any promo plans, I am NOT surprised she's taking her time on the next album.

It WOULD be cool for her to release smaller, one-off EPs to gauge audience reception and experiment with various genres (Rock-Ga?)  as a way to manage the anticipation

It can take some time for movies to get released because they need to find distributors or want to create momentum at festivals. This is an anticipated release, so I'm still unsure why they chose this release strategy. If awards season is what they're aiming for, they could've made the 2023 one if they really wanted to.

Warner Bros has a few awards contenders for 2023 already. It’s best to spread those out, especially if it’s anticipated. Joaquin also was in awards chatter early on this year for Napoleon, so they wouldn’t want two films he’s starring in coming out so close together.

Maybe it's just me but it doesn't even feel that long since Chromatica. The pandemic really f*cked with my perception of time

Honestly, I'd be content if we had to wait until after Joker 2 for new music. Would I like her to release something sooner? Absolutely. We all would. But idk, something just tells me it's going to be a while before the next album. Joker 2 is going to be a big movie, so I just can't see her releasing an album + touring before then.

After 2025 you mean? A 5 year gap? Let me kill myself

It’s…very strange to me that people analyze gaps like this in the pop world, I’m so very used to and expect lengthy hiatuses from some rock bands I follow. I don’t think this is a problem, and I hope the longer wait will allow for something really special to come. I do realize maybe it’s not possible with music contracts, but the fact it’s the longest wait + she just finished her biggest acting role makes me think they’re OKAY with Gaga’s pace. Kinda wish this expectation across pop music wasn’t so…idk, toxic? There’s this idea that a pop musician will be OVER!!! if they don’t release within X time frame and I think that’s ridiculous, especially in the TikTok age where people want faster content/gratification and the huge rise in viral music from “nobodies”. She’ll never be over to her fans and at this point in her career, it’s really just the fans that matter and not staying “relevant”; her movies already prove she’s very relevant. I just hope she doesn’t rush into recording new music and she takes her time if she’s able to.

Yeah, but honestly, I’d rather wait for the album if it means that she’s able to properly promote it and give it the attention it deserves. I still love Chromatica, and obviously the pandemic was something out of her control, but after that era, I’m ok with waiting longer if it means we get a better era as a result. I just don’t think she’d be able to do the album justice if she wanted to release it, promote it, and tour it all before Joker 2.

Arguably her best and most successful albums came after the shortest gap (TFM and BTW). This is also the case was many pop stars. I don't think time is any indicator about how good an era/music will be... But yeah I'm also not expecting any new music soon

The wait between AP and Joanne was way more painful and arduous imo. At least this time around Gaga is in a secure place in her career, there’s no sense of concern or doubt about what might happen next like there was back then.

Not the bore worms!

It gets to a point where we honestly have to wonder: what is it that she wants to do next? Film is taking more and more space in her professional life, not to mention her entrepreneurial endeavors. In some ways, I don't even know how much of a priority music still is for her. At times, Chromatica did feel like something she felt forced to do, she's been vocal about how painful the process making it was, so it did make me question her actual drive a little bit. It almost felt like BloodPop's project that she was dragged into.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe she'll always make music some way or another, she is a musician first and foremost. But I hope the next project will come with the similar drive and excitement that came with earlier albums. She shouldn't feel coerced into producing something just because it's been a while.

Joker (the original movie) was written in 2017, filmed in early 2018, and released in late 2019 so I think it's just a normal timeframe tbh

Joker filmed September - December 2018, and then released October 2019. So the gap between filming and release is significantly larger for the sequel.

She was just on tour, covid kinda delayed the Chromatica era and she was filming joker 2.
