Your opinion on AI technology

I honestly have a hard time seeing any good in this, at least as of today

maybe for science and medecine? Not even sure about this tbh

For now it seems like it’s only useful for:

1) entertainment purposes (like video games for example, which imo is not what we need rn, like occidental humans have enough to be entertained to the point of becoming literally dumb )*

2) for companies to save/gain money by throwing workers under the bus of unemployment;  and

3) for mass surveillance, for the dismantlement of democracies and for military purposes (it’s like when drones were becoming a thing and it was clear their main use were to kill and surveil but people were like yeaaaaaaah pretty shots of landscapes and skylines now possible 😍😍😍😍)
 

so yeah I tend to say that this is a mess and it’s gonna get pretty scary pretty fast 

in any case, I think this is not what the humanity needs rn, it needs to respect the planet and the people who live in it, not to force-feed down our throats AI 

+ i do not believe that tech companies give two cents about wether there are positive or negative outcomes to their innovation as long as they gain power (including information) and profit 

 

do I sound like a pessimistic and disillusioned boomer?  I’m not I swear I’m just a socialist 
 

* okay art (including music) doesn’t make us dumb at all, and the relation between AI and art is super interesting and that’s kinda good and it’s cool to be pushed outside of confort zone in this regard?

But yeah that’s about it, the game isn’t worth the candle I fear

AI, Machine Learning, and Robotics are the next step on reaching another milestone in technology. If you’re a big fan of sci-fi then you should have a vague idea of what kind of futuristic technology will unfold in the following years. 
 

As for its impact on pop culture and modern arts, it will increase the production of these multimedia arts (video, image, audio). It will also take visual effects and photography to another level. Alongside it, is the ease of access for common folks to produce these kind of arts, unlike before where manpower and other resources (lots of instruments, studio,etc.) are required.

of course just like anything else, these can be used either for good or for criminal activities. But AI can also affect and boost justice system. It’s a two edged sword.

IMO, I’m very excited of what these new technologies can bring to the society.

Oh another route is the discovery of aliens 👽. Sounds ridiculous but getting in touch with other civilization outside of earth will cause big changes.

I don't think it's inherently good or bad. You can have fun, make cool things, or use it constructively or you can use it to scam, cheat, and lazily create something that makes others' skills semi-obsolete.

in terms of music i do not like it at all - takes away from actual artists 

but in terms of our world developing, its inevitable, i saw somewhere that by 2040, 34% of all jobs we know today will be taken over by AI. 

i think we need to embrace it just like any technological advancement we use today

I mean that's amazing for consumers of art.. but it sounds like the death of artists. Basically people will no longer be able to make a career out of creative pursuits, but there will be an abundance of art for consumers to enjoy

And contacting other life forms does sound exciting but I think we're so far away from that, that even with ai it will take centuries before we can achieve that. We can't send signals across the universe any fast than we do, and unless we can send signals much faster than the speed of light  (which is an insane feat) we won't be able to contact them. Same thing for space travel and exploration. Even travelling at the speed of light it would take years to travel to our closest companion planet. Some scientists actually believe it would be easier to move the entire universe around us in order to arrive at a destination than it would be to travel at the speed of light. The contacting of alien life forms in our lifetime is just a pipe dream tbh. Sad but true. If other life forms are so advanced that they can reach us, there's no way they're just coming for a little chat. I love a god sci-fi, but the fi stands for fiction for a reason

If we want to avoid a nightmare of biblical proportion, we must try to understand the potential impact of these new tech and make sure that IA isn't developped by those who aren't conscious of, or despise human values. The integration of IA in our life, ventures and society, will require abilities of human, emotional and social intelligence.

Based on the history of mankind, we note that new technologies are widely developed and extended in the masses under the pretext of improving our quality of life, but that the first fundamental interest is above all that of those who develop them and especially those who divert them without any other consideration than their financial profit. 

Hence a certain and legitimate concern...

Artists will have to innovate the way they make art just like how “painters” moved to digital arts. And not only artists but the whole society will need to utilize and maximize the perks AI technology will bring to the society.

As for aliens, extraterrestrial travel, etc., there’s no definite timeline on when humankind will achieve such feat. Also, It’s not like we’ll be able to travel at the speed of light by just asking ChatGPT. There’s a scientific process for such research and having AI + Machine Learning can greatly increase the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of such studies. 
 

And about moving the universe, I think it’s more logical to be able to travel at the speed of light or near ( energy source, robotics/android) rather than to manipulate space and time. Because moving the universe will require to change the “fi” in sci-fi to “fa” (fantasy). I mean moving the universe means manipulation of non-existing entity (void and space) and that’ll require super power.

I think AI is very useful and also very cool, but I also find it kinda scary aswell since it can also be used for the wrong purposes.
