Hi little managers

As you may know the 2010’s were much more singles driven compared to now and Pop was one of the dominant genres.

Time and time we went through frustrations when certain songs don’t get the single treatment.

These would usually be songs that were either fan favorites, had radio appeal and/or music video potential.

So let’s have a discussion on what pop songs during their time you felt were robbed of becoming singles?

I also made a thread with songs I think the pop fandom were vocal about wanting to become singles. I excluded Gaga songs so that we can put our bias aside but please mention what Gaga songs you felt should have been singles in the comments. For me it’s Dance in the Dark, Scheisse and Sour Candy.

Gaga aside, I felt Katy missed out big time with Peacock, it would have helped her break the MJ record. Her team feared it was too raunchy but S&M by Rihanna became a #1 hit during the time and that song is way more literal.

Legendary Lovers would have showcased a more elevated single choice from Katy imo.

I also don’t understand how We R Who We R and Blow got pushed over Cannibal when it was the best uptempo song on the record. Years later tiktok picking the song up goes to show how it was a missed opportunity.

Cruel Summer was the lead everyone deserved over ME, but life’s not fair.

What are your takes?

From Britney, it should have been single Better.

This song could become a huge hit.

It takes a smart brunette to play a dumb blonde.

the perfect pride/summer single for those years. a music video in a swimming pool in palm springs, super gay and super camp full of palm trees, pea-cocks and flaming-hoes :hor:

The fact that babylon wasn't the lead single for chromatica still annoys me,

Especially since stupid love is a significantly weaker song!

Especially since babylon ties together the destination centric theme of chromatica being a different planet.

Especially since stupid love leaked weeks before, IN FULL

Especially since fans were already obsessed with babylon right from the first hauslabs ad

I'm already getting mad writing this :messga:

Some local radio stations in Poland played Monster after the DITD success here.

And the same with Alice last year

Very ahead of the trap/house trend and the lyrics got spunk too. Diplo did gud too.

Again very ahead of the curve tbh. The beat almost hypnotic and the hook is an earworm.

The structure of this track is superb. So funky while also being melancholy. Lot of tiktok potential lol

DITD and Monster deserved full world wide single treatment. Those songs are just perfect single and radio material imho.

I wasn't a Gaga fan during TFM, but I do remember hearing DITD on the radio here (Australian)

monstrosity

Enigma would have been a good (while not obvious) choice, it’s full of vocals (perfect after asib) and dancey disco-ish

Babylon as lead single would have been so bold and cool also
