Sessions and demos that don’t make an album don’t mean there was a fully fleshed out concept and sound that was abandoned. The Americana stripped down approach was always Gaga’s aim with her fifth album as early as 2013-14 and she only worked with RedOne at her label’s request

I have seen this quote and it is still untrue lol. Gaga always wanted an Americana stripped down approach for her fifth album. She worked with RedOne at the label’s request - she was not satisified with their sessions, so she took Angel Down and ran. This can be verified by many close to Gaga’s circle regardles of whatever RedOne has said for press. “”Original LG5” that had a “dark pop!!!1!1”” sound and “Gaga worked with several collaborators before finally settling on the team that would accomplish what she wanted” are two different things

Edit: Just to put a cherry ontop, consider Gaga’s own revisionism when discussing her career, plus the many times past collaborators have lied to smeat her, and then add on the fact that Gaga is RedOne’s most lucrative collaborator by far. Of course he has something to gain by playing up their relationship, and of course people all the time in all disciplines and industries exaggerate how far along or developed certain projects were to increase intrigue, drive sales, and generate more headlines. Not saying he’s insidious or that there was no work together, just saying there beyond the shadow of a doubt was never an “original LG5” in any real sense that had a different sound and concept that was developed beyond rough demos Gaga was never sure about - and also that she definitely WAS interested in a stripped down approach to her next album literally right when ARTPOP ended which she alluded to even while promoting ARTPOP herself.

none of your argument has real footing since you’ve provided no actual sources besides “people in her circle,” but I do want to respond to this because I’ve never personally imagined the original LG5 as the antithesis of Joanne. We also must consider that Joanne itself isn’t an entirely “stripped back” album, so if that was her actual goal in the first place or “ever since ARTPOP” she still failed. The reality (which Gaga herself explained) is that Joanne is the halfway point between Gaga and Stefani (hence it being her middle name), it wasn’t actually a 180 sonically. In 2015 I believe Gaga said that LG5 was her working on “her old self” or something of that sort. It’s still a similar concept, it’s her inviting Stefani back to the stage hand in hand with Gaga. The main difference, and why it’s entirely logical that she would ditch a whole album in early 2016, is that she wrote a lot about her love life with Taylor. Meanwhile, both of Joanne’s worldwide singles are about her split with him. I just don't see how people could look past this information, along with the proof RedOne has provided, in order to believe Gaga wasted 2 years in the studio to get one work tape. The development of LG5 pre-Joanne was much further ahead than say DJWS’s sessions for LG6 before BloodPop became the main producer.

Same. Partynauseous with the right production and feature could have a similar appeal to that of ‘Industry Baby’. Maybe have some of the demos, and side b content include guest features/remixes to fully flesh out the track. A new version of DWUW as well as IWBWY replacing Dope. The ARTPOP OG release in 2013 still exists if you want to listen to the original versions of the song.

I could see her doing 2 of each and doing a new version of DWUW. I don't think she'll completely ignore it simply because there's been so much demand surrounding ARTPOP. Every album has been complete, aside from Chromatica with the Sophie songs. But I don't know if we'll ever hear those.

Elton John confirmed that the album originally sounded "like her early work". The only reason why Lady Gaga didn't mention much in depth about her new album is because she seemed to have finally learned that overhyping an album by spilling all the details about it doesn't help with promo. (Look at what that did to Born This Way and ARTPOP.)

There are multiple insiders across PopJustice, ATRL, and Twitter who have connections to Gaga’s team who have confirmed this ad nauseum; I’m gonna do some digging when I get off work and post them in this thread.

But to address your second point, I don’t disagree with you at all (though I think it’s only slightly related) and actually get similarly annoyed about how people portray Joanne as the opposite of her career up to that point or a “180” as you say.

I think Gaga has made closure with that era and wants it to be its own thing TF/TFM and I agree with her.
