I actually kinda like her review. Renaissance is a fun dance album and personally I don’t think its meant to be something really that deep. Lemonade was such a beautifully deep and personal album so to me it kinda made sense that B would switch it up this time. I still haven’t listened all the way through Renaissance though

True! I think Ajayii is smart but I think the music was so out of what she would listen to that from the jump she was not about to dig deep and consider the album’s context and intention (which are vital to its success imo). Which the video shouldn’t do anyway! It’s a first listen! I think Renaissance is an album you appreciate as you consider it but it’s easy on first listen to be a little like wait this is a Beyoncé album???? Bc it actually is very different for her! I think that was ajayii’s biggest problem. She has a clear idea of what she expects from Beyoncé and this ain’t that

I am not into house so I feel the same way she does: I think it's Bey's worse album. Meanwhile, my best friend loves house and thinks Renaissance is the best album ever and Beyonce's opus. No big deal. Differences of opinion make the world go round. And Bey will be fine with or without Ajayii's review.

 

But I do love that Ajayii doesn't fangurl out - even for her favorite. It makes me like her even more. She really just gives it like she sees it. Very rare for yt "reactors".

I love her honesty.  It's not for everyone.  Art is subjective.  If people expect her to give their fave's rave reviews all the time, what's the point of reviewing them?
