Actually the album has a very soft sound, almost acoustic in every song. You mentioned songs that have a powerful sound that is not present in this album but at the same time there are many songs that are even more powerful than "Dive" for the message, the lyrics. The most commercial are "Eyes Closed" / "Curtains" and maybe "Life Goes On". The are not anthems to be belted out in stadiums, they are just whispered songs, full of confidences, that Ed Sheeran seems to sing to himself.

I know this album was tough for Ed, but I’m glad to see that he’s feeling lighter now that it’s released and that it’s being received so well. People really seem to be closely connecting with it, even people who aren’t typically Ed Sheeran fans. It’s wonderful to see
