It’s interesting how there are all these factions within a two party system. I’ve heard people say “I’m a Reagan republican” or “Bush republican.” (Both are trash, imho. Reagan and letting gay people die in the 80s or his war on drugs). Of this group, I’ve had relatives say they voted for T***p because they “just couldn’t” vote for Clinton or Biden, despite not liking T***p.

There’s also the “I’m socially liberal and fiscally conservative” crowd. Not to mention libertarians - “I love weed but screw poor people…I got mine, FU.”

And within the Dems, for example, I’m a Bernie/Warren/Marianne liberal and not a Obama/Biden Democrat. Or Pelosi saying “We’re capitalists, that’s just the way it is.” How complacent!

It is of utmost importance to call out the Fascism of the T***p or Ronda Santits “conservatives.” There’s some quote that says when fascism comes to America, it will be a cross wrapped in the flag. Just because it’s not Mussolini and Hitler like we learned in history books doesn’t mean it isn’t fascism.

Wish we had ranked choice voting in the US.

Like my Dad would literally go to war to fight for my rights as a gay man, but he also leans conservative in politics for financial reasons. I have a feeling Joe is the same.

I was prone to defend my dad when i was younger, like "he's feminist because he supports and encourage women to get educated and have professions and even presidents" but then he will complain about his DIL because she doesn't cook for her husband while also having a job and a child; has cheated on his wife, doesn't do a single thing in the house, his still working wife (he doesn't work anymore) cleans and cook after closing her store.

He maybe fool himself saying he's not right-winged but he's conservative, homophobic and sexist. Just like most boomers are. Your dad probably defend your rights because he loves you, but then he will vote for politicians who will do everything to hurt you and others, so...

 

Joe is just like that, for what I can tell and I bet that has been an important part of Gaga's therapy and growth. I think Jennifer Lawrence has similar experiences with his Republican father to the point where she went from full daddy's girl to not speaking to him for his extreme opinions even  after all the **** she's been through.

 

I just can't imagine being a father of a woman who's being humiliated and insulted by the people I donate and support.

That's all well and good, but Joe is aware that he has a platform as Lady Gaga's father, and he's choosing to publicly support and endorse a man with an even bigger platform who is a Trump mouthpiece election denier, proud racist, transphobe and homophobe, Putin supporter, one of the loudest voices in the media against any form of gun control, and an anti-abortion campaigner. We don't need to make excuses for him.
