As a lot of you probably already know, a lot of republicans in the US are trying to make drag illegal. Some of the laws that are attempting to be passed are just absolutely insane. You can hear more about it in Trixie's video here: (or honestly just a google search)

Anyway, as Trixie mentions in the end of this video, there is an online event being held on May 7th at 4pm PT/8pm EST. Here is a description of the event:

If you'd like to attend, tickets are $20 USD. Just thought I'd help spread the word.

I never could imagine that drag will become so mainstream, to the point that straight parents with kids are going to drag shows and watching drag race.. like it you told me 10 years ago that it would happen, I would just laugh, but it was also the moment that the republicans woke up and declared war against the queens.

It's just crazy. You don't want your child to go to drag queens reading books? Then don't take them. Why outlaw it for everyone else? How in the world is it hurting you?

It's just to piss us off at this point, they can't battle the gay pride, the marriage, that we are everywhere and not in the closet anymore, so the queens are the easy target because they are famous.

And as sad as it is to say, they also want to ban drag because that gives them an excuse to go after trans women existing in public, that's why wording is so vague in many of the laws (and why several thankfully got shot down in court)

The fact that people are making drag out to be something like this is one of the dumbest ****ing things I have ever seen. Trying to see rationale and reason in any argument gives me a headache.

I said it before, it's a gateway to oppressing/murdering the LGBT community as a whole and ties into something DeSantis is doing here in Florida - trying to kake capitol punishment easier to "vote" for in a jury by having an 8/12 vote "yes" mean the death penalty rather than a unanimous 12/12.

Step 1: Make capital punishment easier to carry out

Step 2: Make child sex crimes a felony offense punishable by capital punishment

Step 3: Make drag near children a sex crime

Step 4: Watch as every non-masc/cis man and non-fem/cis female is lined up and killed by the state

Slippery slope fallacy? Or a prediction of how f*cking crazy Republicans are?

I feel so bad for the queens, but they’re strong and will stand their grounds in 10in heels. :staymad:

Don’t play with me, it just hurts me.
