A couple from China that rented an AirBNB in South Korea decided to Take Revenge on the host after the host refused to cancel by leaving the water, lights and gas on after they left

 

The host realized something was up after gas company called asking if everything was ok because they were registering an  unusually high gas consumption.

 

The bill for all the utilities left running added to over $1500

I'm not gonna comment if they were right to be mad at the host or not cuz it doesn't give much information on their interaction, reason for cancelling or exact time frame...

 

But I will say revenge acts like this doesn't make u a better person but more importantly this could be potentially dangerous especially the gas part of it.

the OP extract is wild but the article is crazier

• the gas and water was left running for 25 days
• the guests paid in full when booking but didnt check the location. the villa was in the suburbs and they wanted central
• they asked to cancel and the host said no (which is within their rights but makes you wonder why... maybe they asked to cancel last minute..?)
• the guests only visited the villa on five separate days
• airbnb refused to get involved, saying it was a 'personal problem' between the host and guest  altho the article later says airbnb did help the host

I’m sure the owner’s cancellation policy was clearly stated as AirBNB requires this info for most, if not all, listings. Most likely a spoiled couple or something of the sorts, it’s giving privilege. Especially if they can’t see the wider consequences their later actions could have caused beyond impacting the host

Also depending on the form of gas that location uses, this should be serious crime IMO for both the wastefulness and the danger it posed to others/the overall space surrounding it

Trying to sue someone from another country would almost certainly end up costing way more than ud get back and that's if u won at all

Tbh. That couples desire for revenge was so strong they didnt even think of potential safety hazards

 

My dad always had a saying in Portuguese that I strongly agree with: "quando a pessoa tem a rasão mas tem rasão de mais, a pessoa perde a rasão"

 

It kinda gets lost in translation but essentially it means that you can be in the right in a situation involving a disagreement but if your reaction to it is very extreme and disproportionate, basically it's like you stop being in the right cuz u just became more problematic than the person who wronged you.

 

Kind of like how a cop may sometimes be in the right innitially to try and restrain someone in some situations but then stop being in the right when their force becomes very disproportionate or dangerous/lethal. In some cases they become more dangerous than the criminal themselves and now they essentially stopped being in the right in the whole confrontation.
