hieronymus 9,671 Posted June 29, 2023 Share Posted June 29, 2023 Spoiler I loved that as7 was non-elim. it allowed everyone to show all their potential and anyone could've won week to week (obviously a few challenges were easier and harder for a couple people) because they were all extremely talented and brought their a-game. that being said, as8 really proved why eliminations are important and why an early elim season would be an awful idea. granted, the patented RuPaul's Drag Race Competition/Reality TV Show Format™ absolutely isn't for everyone and this show isn't the sole indication of a queen's quality & talent in the real world... but can you imagine watching some queens struggle to give even a "safe" performance each week and how much worse this season would've been had some queens not been eliminated. I don't like the idea of doing non-eliminations for seasons that aren't All Winners tbh. All Winners makes sense because imagine having someone who literally won the show go out the first episode. They won it already, so they at least deserve to stay the entire season. But a normal All Stars cast with no eliminations? It's really either going to be great or awful, no in-between. Like, for as much as people having been bitching about this season, I've actually been loving it. Yeah, the some of the eliminations (particularly LaLa and Jaymes) were shocking and wack, but that's what makes interesting TV. And the drama this season has been gooooood. I feel like a no-elimination season would immeditately lower the stakes and we might just get another RuPaul's Best Friend Race situation like AS7. I loved AS7 btw, but it did lack drama and suspense. But again, I guess that makes sense because it's All Winners; it's more about a celebration of their time on the show and the fact that they won. This seasons runways are so questionable, even from front runners (excluding jimbo) especially now they get money to go towards their budget apparently This all stars came way to soon after the all winners season.. All stars 2 was 7 years ago and we're on all stars 8 and AS9 will probably start by the end of the year or beginning of next Idg why not just go back to top 2 lip sync and sending someone home Actually thinking about it a points system would at least be better than this seasons format..
