Let’s say I am an athlete who was assigned male at birth and discovered over time that I am gender-fluid and tend identify more as a female than a male on most days. Therefore, I chose to compete on the women’s category. Wouldn’t that be unfair to women, including transwomen that chose to have hormone therapy and consequently saw a reduction in their max performance? I agree with you on equal and non-discriminatory participation for all in most things, but sports are heavily influenced by sex at birth rather than gender. That’s why we need to balance fairness for all, especially while we evaluate its impact in sporting. OK this is precisely what I'm saying doesn't matter, yes. I don't think it's unfair. It's actually the only fair way to categorize men and women's teams - let women and men and nonbinary folks join the teams they align with. Unless you wanna completely destroy women's sport and discourage girls from ever taking up sport in the first place, all in the name of 'inclusivity'. How people personally identify should be completely irrelevant, it's what body you have that matters. Do you feel him sir?

I want trans women to be able to compete in womans sports, but my support for that must come from science, not politics. It took me a while to understand and accept all trans issues because of how new and complex it is, but ive come to accept them all. The only ones im not sure about is trans sports and trans kids transitioning. Although ive had some interesting conversations recently that made me question my opinions, which is mainly why I love talking about these controversial subjects. With this logic ... People with different ethnic backgrounds also follow certain overall trends in terms of body build (height, muscle mass, etc.). If you start segregating on gender assigned at birth, what's next, segregating based on ethnicity? Some women are also much taller than the average man/have more muscle mass. In contrast, some men are much shorter than the average woman/have less muscle mass. The scientific evidence is clear: each individual is different and everyone will have a different body type. People who are saying there is not enough science are the ones relying on politics, instead of the actual science.

Yes there are differences between men themselves, or even with different races, but its not that big of a difference to the point of segregation. While the differences between the sexes is huge to the point where we need segregation. If two differently built men compete in sports, we cant really predict the outcome. But if a woman competes with a man in sports, we can almost guarantee and predict that the man will win.
Mario Roberto Flores 100
I read many scientific studies on the subject. And they all come to the same conclusion. There is NOT enough information to make an accurate and scientific opinion on whether a TRANS woman has advantages over a biological woman in sports. The studies mentioned here use a very small sample. And with this type of sample it is very difficult to generalize. Michael Phelps is also mentioned in some comments and this swimmer is an exception to the generalization. It's one in a million. So. I think, in fairness to all parties, especially the biological women who have fought their entire lives to get to where they are in sports, and who represent 99% of all women including TRANS women, it is necessary to separate them by the moment. Andrea B 16,761
why is everybody so worried about cis women?? trans women are not that good at sports yeah some have broken records but thats it, cis women are superior right now. If trans women were THAT good we would have ENTIRE teams filled with trans women right now. cis women are not in danger, calm down.

Teenagers can start slow doses of hormones, but they're not kids. trans families know this, if a kid is transitioning the way you're saying then thats abuse but like I said, trans kids don't need to transition like that

Teenagers can start slow doses of hormones, but they're not kids Im not educated enough on this subject, but this is what someone told me: "People should transition before puberty hits because doing it after puberty exposes them to a whole range of problems. I think 16 is too late because by then one has developed full secondary sexual characteristics. The best solution is puberty blockers perhaps until the age of 16 and at that age being able to decide. But waiting until 16 without puberty blockers... it's too late. By that age, your appearance has been permanently destroyed by puberty."

NCgaga 4,345
I’m leaning toward trans people should compete in the category of their original gender because men are physically stronger and faster than women. HOWEVER: due to lack of research in the topic, I’m willing to take a different stance if research and studies come up with a definitive conclusion that states otherwise. I find it cringy that some of you, knowing how inconclusive the research on this is, take such hardcore positions on the topic.

I'm curious what scientific paper has proven that the differences between different men or ethnicities are " not that big". Or that the differences between the sexes are " huge to the point where we need segregation". I'd be curious to see where you get your data from. I' m pretty sure if you make Peter Dinklage race against The Rock or Vin Diesel you can predict whose going to win. If you make Peter Dinklage race against Gal Gadot, I can almost guarantee and predict that the man will not win. Sure, these are extreme examples, but even a short/average height man vs. a tall athletic woman can still have a big difference. So again – where exactly are your facts? Because all you're doing is dressing opinions as facts and then pretending your opinions can change with more facts. But the reality is there are not enough facts either way, so you are not siding with facts, but with your own subjective biases and convictions. Sorry. I did not provide a study because its basic knowledge that men outcompete women in all sports by alot. Which is why there is a segregation, and nobody (including feminists and female athletes) is asking for the segregation to end. The only people asking to end the segregation are ideologically driven people who believe in gender abolition. Here is a study that shows how hundreds and thousands of males (including underage males) outperform the very best elite female athletes: https://law.duke.edu/sports/sex-sport/comparative-athletic-performance/ Peter Dinklage is not just a short man, he has a form of dwarfism, achondroplasia, a genetic disorder which affects bone growth. A better example is Conor McGregor vs The Mountain
