phantasmas 12,403 Posted March 30, 2023 Share Posted March 30, 2023 The current supervisors of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District said at a meeting that their predecessors last month signed a development agreement with the company that gave Disney maximum developmental power over the theme park resort's 27,000 acres in central Florida. The five supervisors were appointed by the Republican governor to the board after the Florida Legislature overhauled Disney's government in retaliation for the entertainment giant publicly opposing so-called “Don’t Say Gay” legislation that bars instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade, as well as lessons deemed not age-appropriate. Under the terms of the agreement, the district is prohibited from using the name “Disney” or any symbols associated with the theme park resort without the company's permission, nor can it use the likeness of Mickey Mouse, other Disney characters or other intellectual property in any manner. The company can sue for damages for any violations, and the agreement is in effect until perpetuity, according to the declaration. If the agreement is deemed to violate rules against perpetuity, it will be in effect until 21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of England's King Charles III, the declaration said. Whenever I see people who support him, I can only nod and smile and have a pitiful laugh. I’m a Disney fan but know people despise them and Orlando and that area of the state would not be what it is if it weren’t for the Mouse. Corporate lawyers even worse. Lawyers for vicious corporations like Disney are even worse! I am loving it right now tho. Disney has been pretty cool with including diverse characters in media. I don’t really feel it’s forced. They have been that way since I was a kid and I think it’s pretty awesome they publicly take stances. Hell, they have been hosting that LGBT+ community convention that’s been in the news recently for years. It’s all purely because the man has a big ego and is a delicate thin skinned snowflake. He snaps at any little thing he doesn’t approve of. I remember he got mad at some college kids for wearing a mask when he was gonna hold a press conference and they would be standing behind him. Sad thing about short tempered men like this, they are ignorant and only caters to heterosexual Christian bigots. Scary thing about men like this, they can pass laws.
