Wasn’t he like the least homophobic/transphobic option though?  I was aware of Kate Forbes being problematic but I thought Humza was fairly tame in comparison

I wasn’t following following either, no one had the same “it factor” Nicola has, that was obvious from the early days of their campaigns. I’m not blaming Nicola, she’s been busy but it might have helped if she found and tutored her ideal successor way before she resigned.  Alex Salmond is obviously a piece of work but he did do a good job in preparing Nicola to take the reins.

Also agree with that independence won’t happen under Humzah.  I can see the SNP vote moving around a lot and the ”want” for independence when under a more chaotic SNP being lower.

He said that transphobia should be exempt from categorization as a hate crime and that special protections should be given to critics transgender identities. He said, in particular reference to preventing anti-trans hate crimes, that freedom of speech is more important than saving trans lives. He also said that it was not important to have trans representation in politics and that it can't be compared to having racial representation in politics because you "can't choose" your race

I never came across that, Humzah voted for the Gender Reform Act and actually going to challenge it
