America. A place where our tax dollars go to food stamps. That’s all I have to say

What is wrong with that tho? Way more beneficial than much of other overblown spending especially military

Never really thought about how our Oceans more or less protect us. Kinda love that at least.

It is a geographical advantage and it certainly was in the world wars. I dont think what she said is that crazy tbh...

But kinda random to say out of the blue

She has a point actually. North America is protected by 2 massive oceans on both sides and the Arctic to the North. We have been kind of isolated from the world for much of our history and were able to prosper and develop at a rapid pace.

WWI and WWII for example hardly affected mainland North America because we were so far away from the conflicts in Asia/Europe/Africa.

I do feel safe knowing that if any huge war broke out in the world, it would be very hard for countries to invade Canada/US.

The fact in middle class, and someone that barely under the same tax bracket qualifies for $700 in food stamps and me a hefty tax payer that gets nothing back can’t qualify to get what I pay for while I’m struggling to even spend $300 a month in my own cash for basic necessities at the grocery store

In fact, I want MORE of our tax dollars go to keeping our citizens fed, alive and healthy. You are kind of a POS for being anti food stamps maybe one day you’ll realize that. So much better for the majority of our tax dollars to go to the incredibly overblown and excessive military. I hope that when you get into your car later the first thing you do is throw up everywhere. Idiot POS.

So incoming, can’t debate so go into name calling.

look at the grocery list 80% of people that get food stamps buy with it then come back, I’ve worked retail.
they aren’t buying lettuce I’ll say that

I’ve worked in a grocery store too and it’s really weird that you would care what kind of food people buy.

I think the issue ur describing with the cut offs in benefits for making slightly more is more of an issue with planning on the thresholds rather than the benefit itself

The issue ur describing is that Governments sometimes cut off benefits suddenly for very small changes in income rather than a more progressive and gradual reduction in benefits. I agree that's an issue

But that's more an issue with how they plan the details of social benefits than there being a fundamental issue with the benefits themselves.

This is not a problem w food stamps it's a problem w education about the importance of eating healthy and how to budget properly

Anyway lettuce is not good to buy if you don't have very much money for food because it's super low calorie

And why should they? People on food stamps should be allowed to have food that is not the basic bare minimums. I also worked at a grocery store for many years and can tell you right now what they are allowed to buy with food stamps is not nearly enough and far too basic.

I also struggle, I live paycheck to paycheck, I work and Door Dash both just to cover my bills. But to selfishly think other people should struggle just because I also struggle is...insane. That's such a twisted point of view. I will gladly send some of my taxes to help someone in a lower bracket than me get stamps. Even if my bracket is close to theirs, they're still below me and therefore are in more need of help than I.
