Agunimon 16,328
Doesn't this go against supreme court rulings? Even if it passes, there is no way that it won't be checked by the judicial branch. Edited March 9 by Agunimon
NashvilleGAGA 74
I don’t know if this helps: but I grew up in rural Bible Belt TN and myself as well as nearly everyone else I grew up with do not align with these policies. We vote blue blue blue. I think these are the dying breaths of the Republicans having control there. It’s ugly now but I think change is so close. I hope it is 5

They hope this’ll go up to the SCOTUS, and its conservative extremist judges will overturn gay and interracial marriage. Altho… idk how this’ll jive against the recently passed Respect for Marriage Act - which finally secured gay and interracial marriage into law

It requires states to recognize out of state gay and interracial marriages if obergefell or loving fell (meaning a state that has banned gay marriage would still have to fully recognize marriages that have happened in a state that does have it legal). I dont see this bill fully becoming law in the state, the senate and governor are psychos, but this would be really pushing it. If it does pass it wont stick. I dont personally think republicans have enough votes in the SC to overturn obergefell, but I dont want them to be given the chance. Edited March 9 by gabeoz
