I appreciate they are not rushing new games. It's giving SV some kind of longevity. There are many many ways they can keep the players active and coming back to it until the DLC comes out. 

I really hope there will be new games for the Legends series in the future though, in 2024 perhaps.

When SV dropped everyone was trashing GameFreak for rushing to release an "unfinished product" and yet here we are again, expecting them to announce new games after just a couple months 

Well, I agree with you, it doesn‘t have to be a groundbreaking game every year with every release.. but. for the price they charge (~120€ for the base game plus DLC), the legacy they build on and the trust of the player base they work with it just feels icky, to me. I know they have to be profitable and there are many many people working at gamefreak that are as passionate as the rest of us, who just need to make money for groceries and rent but at some point the people who call the shots should really rethink the trend that they are on since Sw/Sh, cause this is hurting their games in the long run

I'd agree if it weren't a fact that the game was developed with DLC in mind. The DLC was developed alongside the game, so the year break does stand out when we've known DLC was coming for a long time.

The teams who work on side games (Legends Arceus, Mystery Dungeon, Diamond Pearl remakes) are not the same teams who work on the main games. So the argument doesn't apply here either. They completely can produce multiple quality games because its totally different people doing it. Delaying them or whatever (if there are remakes or whatever in development) is a business choice and how people respond to that is completely based on their own opinions and priorities

Optimising old games for eStore release is a straightforward task and would throw a bone to fans for an otherwise dull as dishwater Presents. The vibe of this Pokemon Presents (celebrating 27 years of Pokemon) was 'interact with our microcurrency-based mobile games, or interact with our data-harvesting aide games, oh here's something for Scarlet and Violet too i guess'. Not cute.

When Dexit was first a thing they sold it as cutting the characters so they could focus on 'high quality animations'. Most Pokemon still use the decade-old models created for the 3DS transition, and on the whole the animinations are recycled game-on-game and, frankly, trash. Towns look good but are completely soulless. Scarlet Violet didn't even have enter-able buildings or (many) interactable NPCs. It has been clear that the focus for The Pokemon Company (which as a company is natural) is to do whatever to increase income and reduce expenditure.

• Game optimisation? Cut
• In-game side quests? Removed
• Regular quality of life updates/bug patches? Scrapped
• Post-game content? Minimised or capitalised as DLC
• Your favorite Pokemon? Not seen since 2018

 

The franchise is marketed so strongly on nostalgia (esp gen 1) but the moment fans ask for something back TPC say "younger audiences don't want that". I don't think younger generations would care much for the gen1 nostalgia if u didn't keep hammering it home either. Cant have ur cake and eat it too

more will probably come toward the end of this season in late march. the new show doesnt start until mid april and markets itself so nothing major required beyond PR hype
