 Melanie updates us on the PORTALS film! 

I’m assuming they’re waiting til they see album sales to give funding. Both so they can gauge how well the album  does first, and so they have the profit to give

Yeah, I think they saw the massive success of Cry Baby and just threw a bunch of money at K-12 because they figured that it'd be just as if not more successful (which it was successful of course). But they probably wanna tread carefully so they can also properly promote the album as well.

K-12 didn't have as much promo if I remember correctly and they probably wanna balance that between the film/promotion with Portals.

Honestly if they haven't even started filming a movie for the album I don't want one. It will just make the next album even farther away.

Hmm, Mel did say that she planned on making 2 more films (after K-12) so I'm not sure what we should expect. I think it was a smart choice to release the album first so we don't have to wait for both like we did for K-12.

I think we'll be okay. She's confirmed that she'll be making multiple music videos for Portals, a tour & a movie. This era is only just starting and we've already gotten a lot in comparison to recent years. Let's wait and see!

Exactly. I have a feeling the music videos/singles are only to create buzz and promotion and to bring people to stream the album. It's very unusual for a record label to fund a movie production too.. so Melanie is kind of in a very weird place as a film producer

I agree, I don’t see her getting the funding for a movie… K-12 costed 6 million and she said it had alot she had to cut bc budget, an artist Gaga’s level wouldn’t get a budget for a movie every cycle, I don’t see it happening…
