If you can't perform for ~13 minutes on your own then you shouldn't get the slot Why not tho? It's such a huge show and party. I have no issue whatsoever with guests to add to the headline If u mean in the sense that sometimes they don't seem to enhance the performance and instead seem to just be stuffed in to add to the headline, then I agree sometimes it seems to be the case and in such cases it would be better if they just weren't there
ThisGuyTony 31,599
That show is amazing! Then it went downhill once LMFAO came on.

MDevacelli 1,556
Makes me sad that artists like Madonna and Gaga made Superbowl during one of their worst eras and stuffed songs like Give Me All Your Love and Million Reasons. Other than this and LMFAO, that was a great show.
Evil R 1,084
Imagine she did this half time to promote her greatest hits tour and the set list is like a mash up of her hits like Rihanna did, that would be immaculate.
OMonster 14,788
The Vogue intro was impeccable but (and this might be an unpopular opinion) I think overall this half time has aged very badly and is evidence of Madonna pandering to trends and not believing in her own legacy. The projections feel very, well, '2012', as do her guests. LMFAO, Cee Lo Green and even Nicki make this performance feel try-hard and trend-chasing. It doesn't feel in any way timeless or classic... which is a shame because it could've been. subtext / fantasy

Other than this and LMFAO, that was a great show. Million Reasons worked so well though and it feels like more of a staple of Gaga's discography than GMAYL does of Madonna's. I mean, MR has almost 700m streams on Spotify. It's a hit and doesn't stand out like a sour thumb in the half time. It also made for a nice and very subtle political commentary, which I think was intentional. "I bow down to pray, I try to make the worst seem better" and "I've got a hundred million reasons to walk away" spoke to the moment very fittingly, as did her opener. It was very classy but still Gaga. subtext / fantasy
LaFama 4,724
It was the first time I cared for a Half Time show and it was amazing. Looking back some things haven't aged really well tho, I get that LMFAO were popular at the time but their participation was so unnecessary and that whole segment is super cringy to watch, she could've done another of her songs instead of all the shuffling . The most memorable part of GMAYL was MIA's moment and I actually like the song, but the tour performance was way better. Now, the Vogue performance is what you expect from a living legend like her, that entrance is one of the most iconic moments of the half time. StrawberryBlond 15,022
Looking back after all this time, it's better than I remember. The way she danced on top of that moving chair at the beginning was so gutsy as she wasn't tied in place and she was in heels. And her dancing throughout was amazing for anyone of any age, but especially for a 50 year old mother of two. The setlist left much to be desired, though. The only good songs were her old ones, she let it down badly by wanting to be on trend by unnecessarily adding in LMFAO (that move with her leg in the air wasn't actually as cringey as I remember at the time, though). A legend shouldn't have had to put in any songs other than her own. And Gimme All Your Luvin' was only put in because it was from her new album and would never have made the cut otherwise. It went top 10 afterwards though, which is her most recent song to chart that high, so I guess it served a purpose. The guest stars were terrible choices and every single one of them have aged badly, mostly due to scandals involving the people in question. But it was all made better with the gorgeous rendition of Like A Prayer at the end. That intro and outro are class. This truly is when SB shows changed to something super flashy, something you had to give your all to, a career-defining moment that solidifies legend status. This isn't meant to be like any other awards show performance or even tour performance, you had to bring it and then some.

Crescent Bloom 1,085
I rewatched it immediately after Rihanna's. The production value is incredible on it, her energy/stamina is impressive, and she looks absolutely powerful. The setlist isn't awful, but it isn't great either. The guests forever freeze her performance in 2012. If a halftime was done solo, it should've been this one. Her discography not only is iconic, but also spans across so many decades and we really only got one song per decade.
