Sam & Kim's BRITs performance almost cancelled due to malfunction of their £500k set

Sam Smith was left furious after their Brits Awards performance was almost axed following a technical glitch.

Sam grew increasingly upset backstage at London’s O2 Arena when their £500,000 set malfunctioned — causing a delay.

The crew backstage desperately tried to fix the errors. Organisers secretly moved Stormzy forward on the billing to cover the issue.

Then, to the bafflement of the millions of TV viewers at home, they played a footage of Adele belting out her tune I Drink Wine at last year’s BRITs to kill time while they were reconstructing the set for Sam’s performance of Unholy with Kim Petras.

“The whole set was built and ready to go but then a malfunction meant it had to be pulled off.

“Stormzy was moved forward and Sam was told there was a possibility their performance might be pulled altogether. Sam was understandably furious and it was pretty tense backstage.”

It is believed the technical issue that caused the drama was linked to the cars used in the set.

You would be shocked at just how expensive these performances are. I think that's partially why a lot of bigger artists don't bother with award show performances anymore.

That's crazy!!! I thought they were paid very little since it's a promotional platform for them. So to spend that much out of their own pockets it's outrageous. Sometimes I call my parents crying because I don't have enough to pay the rent. I'm just...  The miracles I'd make with that much money tbh.

Idk how reliable the info I read was, but I saw somewhere that some artists get all-expenses paid plus a “bonus” for performing, some artists get their expenses paid but don’t get a “bonus”, and some have to pay for their whole performance and don’t get a “bonus” for performing. It all comes down to negotiations between the event producers and the artist’s management.

I think the leaked documents showed exactly how everything was calculated but basically the price includes choreographers, backup dancers, lighting engineers, rehearsals etc

Damn! I bet it was a relief for some artists when they had to do webcam performances back in 2020.

I bet the event producers were glad they only had to cuff out a couple hundred dollars for a decent webcam instead of hundreds of thousand of dollars for the stages

It’s rumoured that The Brits cancelled Beyoncé’s performance cuz of budget issues (her team wanted 500k+)

I SCREAMED  Gaga is such an economic queen, I don’t think she has ever spent such a budget apart from Paparazzi at VMA maybe
