It's giving tumblr with their adult content and everybody moving to twitter. And just like them, they'll have to go back once they see how flawed this really is... but maybe it will be too late by then, as I'm sure many shows will want to migrate to other streaming forces

i think unfortunately the amount of money they make forcing some people to password share will at least be on par with the money they’ll lose with people outright canceling their subscription

I'm actually impressed with my idea before and I think I literally solved the problem. You pay $10 for an initial account for one user, and then $7 per additional user on that account, with a limit on how many users per household.

No, that doesn't solve anything. 1. *My* bill would go from $10 to $17 under your plan. I'd object to that, and so would many others in similar situations. 2. Your plan does nothing in the case where people are willing to share not just the account, but also their profile. That's probably more than you think, especially once you start charging per profile.

Horrible system. My parents and I live in different cities, so now we won't be able to watch it from the same account anymore :motherofpuppies:

This is going to be such a failure. When they roll this out they are going to see huge cancellations and their stock price will tank.

Why do business executives have no common sense? Is that something they drill out of you at business school?

Hope this bombs cause it's gonna be a pain and what at least I am looking for is an easy way to stream series without worrying about permisions, passwords or whatever :samanthac:

These kinda things never keep in account families who’re split living overseas. My parents in Cachapoal get warnings from Netflix when my sis n I log in in brussels 💀. my older sis logs in from Sydney . it’s an instant-connection planet we live in, Netflix of all should get that

But it's about households, not families. When they say "family", they mean the people who live with you. Otherwise it wouldn't make any sense to be able to share with just with people who are related to you and not anyone else, like friends, lovers etc.

Sad days are upon us. I'll never forget using a complete strangers Netflix account in college. We never met, got it from a friend. :laughga:

You have to sign in every 31 days??? I'm sorry but wtf?? Most accounts give you like a year of inactivity at least. I do not watch TV that frequently lmao.

Also a slap in the face to active military people tbh who aren't going to be able to log in under all these perfect little conditions while they're serving
