I found them a little bit annoying in the past. I like Unholy and the Latch song with Disclosure. I will stream in a few times for give them a little support. I know they have a big arena tour coming up, I hope it’s doing well.

This is the title track, right? How can their album be flopping this hard with Unholy still charting??

Is it petty of me that I'm not streaming it yet, because I want Ava to smash? :ally:

Gloria is such a bad album name, it sounds like a grandma name :bear:

I think it's referencing choral / classical music, like the opera and compositions titled Gloria. I like it personally.

Gloria is a voice inside Sam: “There’s a fighter voice in all of us and you’ve just got to look after that. I’ve called my album Gloria because I’ve called that voice inside me Gloria. It’s like a voice in my head that just says, ‘You can do it’.“

It was an alright album. The title track was interesting but, honestly I didn't want Sam's voice over it towards the end. Sam's R&B vocals clashed with the chamber choir on that track and I really feel like it was just honestly bad from a musicality standpoint.

There is one other hit on it and it is the new single, "I'm Not Here to Make Friends". The video is delirious and delicious and camp and fun and serves more of what we actually wanted from the album visually. The actual song.....it's a Dua Lipa song done by Sam Smith. Not a bad thing. But certainly not the original "freedom/individuality embracing" vibe that Sam said it was going to be. I wanted something that really had Sam announcing their non-binary status through art...instead we got another queer pop stan giving an updated Elton John vibe. Not a bad thing. It works. But like.....girl.

The rest of the songs feel like typical Sam Smith music. Not a good thing or a bad thing. Unholy will be remembered as a solid hit in their cannon. It's the one truly different song on the album. I was hoping it would play with that kind of chaos more. But the album didn't. It's not nearly as adventurous as Sam gassed it up to be. And I guess I get the idea of extending an olive branch to the straights....but with Ed Sheeran....something feels very "industry plant" about this the same way when Ed collaborated with Taylor on "End Game" on Reputation. It should be a big song...but it's just....a little out of touch from the actual queer community. Even a Justin Bieber collaboration I think would have been more interesting. And for the love of Gaga....literally....it was supposed to be your big queer magnum opus album....****ing ring your idol....Gaga would have brought something different to this record that it really needed.

Don't get me wrong...the album is worth a listen. And it will nicely fill out January and February as you need some music to dance to....strictly in your living room....save your actual dance moves for the summer, though.

It's a C+ album. Lots and lots of C moments with a few sprinkles of As.

Tbh the hate comments about how "extra" they are is giving nb-phobic :marges:

Give me a break :marges:

I don’t think Bella Ramsey is cringe, or Utada Hikaru, Emma Corrin, Janelle Monae, Bob the Drag Queen… I could go on and on.

Me thinking Sam is an awkward, attention seeking dork has nothing to do with their gender identity :alsemanche:

The album is all over the place. We will all forget about it next week. Meh. Moving on

I think we all need to accept the fact Sam Smith has basically become a singles artist this decade, that’s absolutely nothing wrong especially with that with this era of streaming, that being said, they can get another hit from Gloria and give the album a nice amount of streams..

I dont think thats the case, finding someone cringe or awkward is not hating on non binary people, actually there is a lot of people who thinks the same, even many comments in their recent video.

Whats important is that they as an artist and as a person feels good about themselves and if thats the way they feel good then thats fine, i dont think they care about the comments

Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙
