I think it just comes down to the fact that Unholy was a hit despite Sam Smith 

Like I know they have genuine fans and I'm not dragging any of them for loving Sam, but lets be honest - the only thing that took off about that track was the hook itself. Most people find Sam quite cringe, I know I definitely feel they come across as extremely try-hard and fake 

They keep having these moments in their career where a track blows up but it never translates to an increase in their public profile/fame. I think that's very telling.

I think they just mean it doesn't really evoke the imagery Sam was trying to do with everything else related to the album

It isn't worthy because I personally do not like it and if I do not like something it must be bad because I'm the center of the universe
