thisguyN 616
Well, the arguments above don’t go against each other actually. - he is a homophobe; -it is his freedom to wear or not to wear; -he has his complex reasons to believe what he believes (basically everybody has complex reasons to be who they are); - those reasons does not justify bigotry and discrimination (as he had a long time to learn to know better than this)

I think in a professional setting, freedom has its limits. You can't claim to be exercising your freedom while refusing to serve LGBT customers for example. You can't claim religious freedom to reject operating on an LGBT patient. Likewise, I think if your team is hosting an annual sports event where they invite LGBT fans (members of the community who made you a millionaire in the first place) you have the duty to be hospitable and follow the protocol, like the rest of the players. That's his job. I don't know why we have to treat hockey players any different than we treat other jobs. What he did is extremely disrespectful to the community that pays for his huge salary and as such there should be career repercussions for that in my opinion. But again, these statements are not against each other. He is free not to wear it, and the club is free to assess and evaluate this behavior accordingly. Also, refusing to serve a customer because they are gay is a bit more radical than not wearing a t-shirt with LGBT flag on it. Yes, both comes from a place of discrimination, but the comparison is not that fair I believe. anyways, **** that homophobic douchebag

I'd say more radical than my example. Keep in mind that he only played in the game when everyone switched their jerseys to non-pride ones after the warm-ups, which is likely a concession to get him to play the game. It's just a **** move all around. And the worst of it all, is that he had the audacity to go out and tell the press about his bigoted beliefs. He could've at least stayed quiet. But he wanted to add insult to injury. He knew what he was doing and he knew he'd get the support of millions of conservative americans. That's why he was acting smug. And having a notorious anti-BLM coach does help a little.

Advocating against LGBT people while discriminating based on religion and actually disrespecting religious beliefs. Nice! Everything I say is a lie, including this sentence. Religious beliefs are bogus, as an advocate for real life equality, I'm not afraid to mock people for believing non proven rubbish, the same way people mock toxic conspiracy theorists. Not the same as someone's sexual orientation, the left want to have equality, equality will never happen with religion. Sure there are moderate religious people, don't have a problem with that but they are still believing made up nonsense with no scientific proof. The effects religion have on people, especially where religion is built into the countries laws is way worse than me mocking someone for believing in a man in the sky.
