Though his version of Joker is beloved by fans, Mark Hamill doesn’t think he’ll ever voice the character again – for a touching reason.

Mark Hamill explains the heartbreaking reason for why the Batman: The Animated Series'Joker voice actor believes he will not return as the Clown Prince of Crime in the future. Hamill, who is known worldwide for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, has developed another, just-as-iconic performance as Batman villain Joker over the years. Hamill first played the character in 1992, in the groundbreaking Batman: The Animated Series, and has since voiced the character in several spinoff series, video games, and films.

Throughout his journey as the Joker, Hamill has had one constant partner - Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy - and speaking with Empire Magazine, he reveals that he does not believe he will return as the Joker following the death of his longtime friend and collaborator.

Conroy's Batman and Hamill's Joker carried the show, with their interactions being lauded to this day as the best representation of the characters' dynamic. Sadly, Conroy passed last year after a battle with cancer.

Hamill says. "They would call and say, 'They want you to do the Joker,' and my only question was, 'Is Kevin Batman?' If they said yes, I would say, 'I'm in.' We were like partners. We were like Laurel and Hardy. Without Kevin there, there doesn't seem to be a Batman for me."

That is admirable. I am saddened by both Conroy's death still, and now also this news, but proud Hamill took this decision. Respect. :applause:
