I like to think of that game as some kind of purgatory, where it was decided whether they'll stay alive or not, it feels better with some kind of a supernatural touch! Well it surely was, cause if they died in games they died in real life as well. Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Jack3257 743
I don’t watch the show. However, Netflix will sometimes have shows end their seasons in a bizzare way if they aren’t sure if they will renew the show or cancel it. The ending has to make sense either way. julz 7,125
I think what is brilliant about the ending is that it can really happen in the head of a person....blocking out intense trauma. Your brain will do anything to protect you from the truth and real memories, including lying to you. For me, Mira gave all the endings that I wanted...trolling me several times..but those endings have been overused in other stories with the same genre. So this ending hits me still. Oriane 21,076
The theories of the Queen of Hearts were actually very cliché and seen again and again, I was hoping that it wasn't any of them. Whereas the ending of Alice in Borderland, I can think of only one other thing it reminds me of (and in that one, the characters were actually dead so the stakes were different, they couldn't go back to their normal lives). Also, the way I understand it, it's NOT a dream, they were actually battling for their lives in a sort of afterlife, and those who survived the games would survive in real life. And while it sucks that they don't remember anything, it actually totally makes sense. Otherwise anyone who has ever been in a coma would know all these things about the afterlife, and that would create chaos. We're good living our lives without knowing what happens after. It was a more realistic reason behind it all and I found that very pleasing since I was expecting some mind-blowing sci-fi thing- which is what many were expecting too but the show itself joked about that with the queen’s theories. It was simple but effective. I didn't find it realistic at all. Everyone happened to have the exact same dream together? So detailed? A future where ppl created a virtual world woulda been more realistic tbh

I don’t remember if the manga ending was received well when it ended, but my brother is a big fan and wasn’t really surprised at or annoyed with how the live action ended. The worst was the "you're actually in a psychiatric hospital and you created everything in your head", they spent so much time on it I thought it was real and was cringing hard The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic! Last episode made it clear they could choose to stay alive or stay on purgatory, some of the players prefered being there (and they showed it on Season 2) than going back to the original world. I knew from the beggining The Queen wanted to make them believe nothing was real and it was just a part of her game.
