Madonna to Embark on Career-Spanning 40th Anniversary Tour

The global trek will celebrate Madonna's deep catalog of hits, sources tell Billboard.

Madonna is planning a massive 40th anniversary tour later this year with her longtime concert promotion partner and producer Live Nation and music manager Guy Oseary, sources tell Billboard.

The 64-year-old pop icon will perform music from her entire catalogue, dating back to her 1983 self-titled debut album through her most recent studio album, 2019’s Madame X. The world tour will be Madonna’s first ever career retrospective, featuring a compilation of her biggest hits across four decades of music and will reportedly include a multi-night run at the O2 in London.

“It’s going to be the biggest tour she’s ever done,” one executive familiar with her plans tells Billboard. The tour will include both stadium and arena dates, the source says, and include over-the-top production that delivers both “Material Girl” kitsch and occasionally outrageous sex appeal with plenty of show-stopping moments made for social media.

I'm a bit scared by this part but love all the rest!

Very good news overall!

Like, every countries in all 5 habitable continents big, or 10,000 dates on Europe & North America only big? :oprah:

It seems so contrived though just to intentionally do something shocking to get attention on social media. :madge:

Yeah and folks see it, cringe and don't even want to remember it so it doesn't really bring impact, just a bad taste left in the masses mouths.

4th Time Around

Not trying to be a stick in the mud or anything but I just hope she will physically be able to handle a massive tour like this. I remember seeing her with Maluma and the performance was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. She was clearly in pain and looked either drunk or medicated like crazy. I would love to see her come back strong but I am not purchasing any tickets until I can see some of the performances myself.

Hey, I'm king of the world, you ought to hear my song, you come on measure me, I'm twenty inches long

This could well be her curtains call tour, for the reasons you've mentioned, so I get why she'd want it to be as big and as grand as possible

The thought of someone as restless and creative as Madonna retiring at her age seems so weird to me but you could be right and in that case I would need to see her because I am a longtime fan and would never pass up her farewell tour.

wasn't the madame x tour really small and intimate because she struggled physically toward the end of the rebelheartpop tour?

If this is true I really can't wait, I did want to see Madonna on the Madame X tour but couldn't afford/wasn't wanting to pay that much but I want to see her as this may be her last time touring!

Sneaky Oliver

A Madonna tour without new songs feels so wrong idk, part of the magic about her tours is about how the smash hits are going to blend with the new trakcs and its universe/aesthetic/concept

No, she wanted to have a more intimate interaction with the audience.
