dzox 552
Perfect illusion is the perfect lead single for joanne but didnt really took off cuz she didnt really perform it anywhere during the single rollout. Just dance, BTW and Bad romance need no explanations. Its between stupid love or applause, both sounds like a really safe choice for a single, peaked top5 but gaga didnt really perform SL until months later and it was during pandemic so in conclusion my pick for the weakest lead is Applause
thisboyisamonster 926
Perfect Illusion deserved more when it came out

dubstep111 676
Perfect illusion really goes hard. So it easily beats stupid love.
MelbHawker 6,583
Perfect Illusion as Joanne’s lead stands out as the weakest of all her leads. I love the song though.
Lucas 27,392
Imo it's Stupid Love. How could the genius Max Martin, who produced so many of the best songs of the past 25 years, Bloodpop and Lady Gaga release such a mediocre song
Just A Holy Fool 2,617
Stupid Love is a bop, no one will change my mind. Perfect Delusion is the weakest by far.
Robo Ga 15,314
Perfect Illusion hands down, the vocal and production were simply too raw and abrasive for the average listener to latch onto. I think Stupid Love was a great single for Chromatica even though it didn't pop off as crazy as some would expect. Everyone knows Stupid Love now, but only Gaga fans really remember Perfect Illusion lol 🤖⚡️
Mitch XCX 1,039
Perfect Illusion was almost annoying to listen to after a while, it also doesn't sonically resemble the rest of the album at all. I understand why Stupid Love was the first single for Chromatica (typical gaga style song, catchy stuttering lyrics etc) but I think Alice or 911 would've been a stronger lead. HayThurJack 340
Depends if you mean sonically or in terms of success. Assuming former cause latter can be worked out pretty objectively. For me, personally, Stupid Love is her most underwhelming lead single ever. Really lacks that heart throbbing brilliance of being something entirely new and unexpected. Not to mention that, subjectively, I don't think it's particularly good. I know it's controversial but I still think Perfect Illusion is one of the best things since sliced bread. Comes down to personal preference but the chord progression in the intro still hits me in my gut, the energy of it, the Tame Impala influence, the raw vocals (and frankly raw emotion), etc. Absolute banger. androiduser 7,438
Definitely a tie between Stupid Love and Perfect Illusion.... I am baffled anyone chose either of those
ANVEEROY 61,307
Those who are saying JD aged poorly, just look at the Spotify numbers. It's having a great time! Stream Kylie-Janet Discographies!
Schwerk 7,274
Perfect Illusion I remember hearing it playing in a schop and it hit me how annoying it sounds. I like the instrumental but Gaga completely drowns it out by this almost screaming, nagging type of chorus. I love that it emotes the lyrics so well, and live its epic, or when you play it really loud, but the chorus gets on my nerves when I casually listen to it. Stupid Love I liked it a lot better before the video came out. It being shot on a phone made a boring concept with mostly tacky styling even more lackluster in the end. I'm not usually this harsh, sorry Also why do people keep saying she didn't promote Perfect Illusion? She was knocking down doors at radio stations all over the US, UK and Berlin in her booty shorts According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
JustTea 6,289
PI and SL are pretty even tbh. Both have very weak choruses. SL has a nice hook in pre-chorus and PI in the bridge, but both are missing the catchy Gaga chorus. Actually SL chorus makes me kinda cringe and wanna skip it and PI chorus is too "loud" in a way (like she's shouting). Just imagine Alice as the lead after ASIB (My name, isn't Ally's)
