They hold a majority and have every intention of making the next two years chaos to boost the Republican nominee. It becomes a question of whether it’s worth having a Democrat be the face of the dysfunctional 118th Congress.

How embarrassing for them Whimsical bitch

On the other hand, if they sway enough moderate Republicans who are already showing they're more than ready to split with the psychos, then Jeffries ends up being an effective speaker despite his party not having a plurality, that makes Democrats look ridiculously strong. It's a gamble but they need, what? 6 Republicans to defect further and side with the Dems? I'm sure there's at least 6 that would be reasonable allies in congress. IMO the moment they hit 2 or 3 Republican “Jeffries” or “presents” the holdouts could then fall in line with McCarthy and the defectors automatically become targets in the next election cycle. Can they find 6 Republicans willing to do that? Maybe. Who knows tbh

Who knows tbh Either that or 10 Republicans have to switch their votes to "present" to lower the threshold Either way, I don't think there's a way Republicans come out of this looking good Whimsical bitch

Guest
why do Democrats not make use of the situation and offer their vote for McCarthy under the condition to have Moderate Republicans's vote for other bills in the future?

Probably because this man had weeks to get his votes in line and couldn’t even do that. He’s too incompetent to secure votes in the future and untrustworthy. Let him be embarrassed. Won’t really change the outcome of the next 2 years.
