AntonTurnItUp 7,088
Since I had so much free time the last days, l decided to change my playlists and start the year listening and searching some fresh and new music, but.... watching those typical videos on YT like "top music of 2022" or "the best 100 songs of 2022" I realized that I'm really not feeling the music, I feel it empty (?) it's like these songs don't have, idk.. soul? or something that makes me at least think "damn, this one is sooo good" like music from past years/decades that I have in my library, Idk what is going on to me because since the past 2 or 3 years I struggle with connecting with today's music/artists, and at the end I don't, am I depressed or something? Or this year was really bad in music terms? and before you call me Boomer, pls, I have

Over the years, I’ve drifted a little and just attributed it to aging
Dancing Shadow 1,171
Honestly, thats how I feel bout a lot of modern music...... its probably because its not what i grew up with so it doesnt have much meaning to me "I hope that you will love me in this way For who I am—not then—but for today"
LaLuna 12,732
Trust me, it's not just you. These days I almost only listen to music from the 80s, 90s and 2000s because that's what I connect with the most. Music from the past decade or so doesn't speak to me at all. Enigma 7,182
Music has sucked since 2016 exactly I blame Rihanna and that atrocious Work song for popularizing vapid stuff like that And before I get called a delusional boomer, I’m 20 and there are factual reasons behind this. For one, the streaming format made songs turn shorter and killed the album. Also Tik Tok made it all even worse by making songs with one catchy part and the rest being filler. Tyler1992 2,264
Nothing quite hits the same as the music from your formative years. Also pop music kind of has been stagnant over the last few years I’ve found.
hELXIG 42,966
Most pop music is made for a 5 minute trend now, rather than to stand the test of time. Lots of flash in the pan 'hits' that we will forget in 6 months, but they don't care cause they grab their cash and move on to the next one 16 minutes ago, Tyler1992 said: Nothing quite hits the same as the music from your formative years This too! Starmie25 18,482
Streaming and tiktok really turned the music industry on its head. Also the way people tried to capitalise off the "Indie-Kitchen" schtick got stale and now feels like a parody of itself.

PartySick 159,836
We're boomers now, obvi Though even though I stan two of the biggest names in pop, I never cared for pop much at all so...everyone else is boomer Streaming has lowkey ruined music too imo but there's still a TOOOON of good stuff out there, even new stuff. It's just that the MPGs are making boring stuff to snatch those viral trends. 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼
RAMROD 109,348
Maybe you have a bad day.
