Though today she's not anywhere near the perfectionist she used to be, when Nicki was working with her, Madonna still was taking what she was doing very seriously. She surrounded herself only with people that were able to keep up and that had been common knowledge for a long time. You don't get to be where she is by entertaining people who aren't working at the level you're working at. I don't doubt she did things this way with Nicki so Nicki could prove she was capable of handling it, and considering they all saw the light of day, she was deemed capable. It’s fast sure but it felt rushed and not up to her standard especially at that time. I like that she can step back and know her best process.
