when katy and nicki don’t win them, the grammys aren’t rigged or unfair. but when the weeknd doesn’t, people say the grammys are meaningless. so are they or aren’t they? stop moving goal posts. 

i don’t like nicki or katy, so it’s not like i have some personal investment in this. just that it’s always so dumb to act like they matter only when it’s to drag someone.

Well, the Grammys play a huge part in the music industry, so I think most people would agree that they are probably in some way "rigged" or at least given out unfairly, more often than not (like with Katy or whatever). But I think this can be true, while at the same time people can be realizing that winning a Grammy might not have as much prestige as it used to and therefore not matter as much, for various reasons (like with the Weekend, for example, where most people seemed to find it obvious that something's wrong with the selection process for who gets an award). So these two things are not at all mutually exclusive, I guess.

To me personally, it doesn't really matter if an artist wins a Grammy or not, because i don't enjoy their music more or less because of that and I'm also not invested in award shows. But it matters to certain people, like it obviously does to Nicki and her team. And I do not love the fact that she might never be getting that trophy that she's so desperate for, because that would just be spiteful. I much rather hope that some day she'll grow as a person and become a decent human being. But I think it's fair that as long as she is a horrible role model, people don't go and shower her with awards and public approval. Doesn't mean I love everything the Grammys do. It just means that in Nicki's case, everything that might work as an incentive for her to reflect on her behavior is very much welcome.

Cardi has 5 number ones in half the career time and 4 of those 5 numbers ones are not a sample. (Bodak Yellow, Girls Like You, WAP, and Up).

Actually, not that I’m defending her, she was blacklisted from the Grammys for her one and only Grammy performance depicting exorcisms, h*rny altar people, and a “blasphemous” priest. Though I definitely would say she deserved Grammy awards at the beginning of her career for tracks like “M4L with Drake”, any of the Roman tracks, and Roman Reloaded in general, I can see why her newer stuff isn’t even seen as relevant for awards.

she said the show runners picked roman holiday to be performed out of the songs she offered them to choose from and told her to go bigger with the performance, so if that's the reason why she's blacklisted, that's fcked up.
