I am so deeply sorry for the family that experienced this. I wish the Palestinians living in here, would have the same privileges and safety as I have. I wanted to ask though, what does Colonial Israeli Settlers mean? I want to learn about terms like these.

The expansion needs to be stopped but as long as countries will hide behind the hypocritical pro 2 states solution... Nothing will change. They're all for it since decades and we see what changes it brings, it's a pose that consists of letting the expansion happens.

No one should care about a very old international deal that was terribly unbalanced... It needs to be changed.

Honest question and I am open to being dragged (though mostly interested in replies that will honestly engage with what I'm saying): why does the Israel-Palestine conflict deserve as much attention as it gets?

I can see the argument that there's time for every injustice, but this conflict has dragged on for 70 years. More people die from conflict in Ukraine or Ethiopia in a month than in Palestine in two decades. But when Ukraine got invaded further in February, my social media feed was full with "what about Palestine". And I feel like politicians who rose to power or stay in power based on anti-Israel sentiments (Hezbollah, Iran) cause more damage to their own people than Israel to Palestinians.

I'm mostly in left-progressive circles where I live and, honestly, picking a side and being as vocal as possible about it to me is starting to look more like a performance or way to emphasize your (political/religious/ethnic) identity than it is genuine care for preventing as much injustice as possible. Otherwise these people would focus at least as much about Ukraine. It was especially noticeable when I visited Lebanon last autumn, and I legit heard a Lebanese friend (who grew up in a Hezbollah-supporting household) say "I hate Palestinians even more than Syrians. It's not about Palestinians, it's about Palestine as a holy land."

What is the end-game? What if more countries follow the likes of Morocco, UAE and Bahrain in normalizing relations with Israel? Would that not have an overall positive effect on the Middle East, for instance if it means corrupt Lebanese and Iranian politicians can't just shout harder about Israel to deflect from domestic problems caused by themselves?

Because it is a hot topic among left-progressive Twitter echo-chamber crowds that want to score some woke points. It is a performance.

Most of those people haven't done proper research and don't understand the complexity of the situation.

Both parties should have agreed to two states solution and that's about it, as they both have lived there for quite some time

It's so sad seeing innocent children and people getting hurt, no matter which side

So people should stfu about this issue because otherwise they’re just “cowards that want to score some woke points” ??

First of all, I really hope this conflict ends, and unlike some extremists, I believe in a two state solution. Both people deserve to have a state of their own and live in peace and security.

But I agree with you in the sense that Israel is much more scrutinized than Russia. And generally the far left and the far right will never have the same energy for the Russia-Ukraine war, despite the huge difference in casualties at least this year.

Why? Could be explained by a few factors:

The far right are simply anti-semitic. They don't care about palestinians. To them this conflict is a way to demonize the jews even further and conflate the actions of the israeli government with jews all over the world. Russia however is a white conservative patriarchal anti-LGBT country. It's their dream society. So of course the far right are not going to criticize the war.

The far left? To them, Ukraine disrupts their narrative. They like to think that the world is suffering because of evil American imperialism as well as America's allies. So the fact that the U.S happens to be on the right side of history when it comes to the Ukraine war makes them uncomfortable. So they don't like to talk about it. Or in some cases they end up being apologists for Putin claiming that Russia was provoked by NATO or that Putin is trying to protect "ethnic russians" etc. Also Ukraine for them is a "white" country. So it's automatically considered a "privileged" country according to them and less worthy of our attention. Even on this website I was shocked to see some comments in my thread "TIME's Person of the Year". These beliefs are sadly no longer "fringe". The far left and the far right are on the rise. And they resemble each other in so many ways. I never believed in the "horseshoe theory" until the war in Ukraine. You can literally open a Tucker Carlson video and listen to a far leftist, and they'll sound exactly the same.

With that being said, the far right has been a lot more destructive when it comes to Ukraine. 90% of the anti-Ukraine takes I see are from the far right.

The only thing is I’d question the sourcing. Both sides are known to stage fake stories in favor of their causes. This is just a random photo with no real context. For all we know this photo could be of a random girl who fell and scraped her face. Just because something is posted on social media doesn’t make it true. Disinformation on social media is sadly pervasive and is leading to the downfall of society. All it does is rial people up and pit them against one another.
