Rex Orange County has sexual assault charges dropped due to a lack of evidence

Rex Orange County has been cleared of six counts of sexual assaults after the charges against him were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The singer, real name Alexander O’Connor, appeared at Southwark Crown Court in October following allegations that he assaulted a woman in London.

O’Connor had been accused of assaulting a woman in a taxi and at his home in the capital, which he had denied.

He had pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on unconditional bail ahead of a planned trial which had due to take place in January.

However with weeks to go until the trial was set to begin, all charges against O’Connor have been dropped, with the CPP citing a lack of evidence.

Announcing the news on Twitter, O’Connor said in a statement that the CPP ‘reviewed the evidence and decided that there is no merit in this case going to trial.’

Dropping the case due to lack of evidence doesn't necessarily mean 'cleared of wrongdoing' as he says in his post. Who knows what to believe.

But again, what if nothing did happen? I don’t think holding him accountable by calling these people victims is fair. If he didn’t do anything, there were no victims. If he did, there were. It’s pretty much insinuating guilt already.

Well thats exactly why I said if there were victims. If there weren't any victims then I hope ROC gets support to move past the stress that false (?) accusations would cause

This, I can imagine, is why a lot of men and women don't come forward or live in denial, is because of lack of evidence. I know first hand how devastating it is to be abused, and not really be sure how to save yourself from it. The long term effects it can have on you are no joke. I hope everyone involved in this situation finds solace or peace.
