People should go listen to A Hard Rains Gonna Fall for instance, that songwriting is literally lightyears ahead of Dolly's best. God forbid these entitled rich white "iconic" musicians no matter how talented and exceptional as they are ever praise a young woman. If Dylan had such an issue praising young women he would not have said in an 80s interview that Madonna was a great artist now would he? MOT 2,578
Rage, rage, rage against the dying of the light. Three and a half years since Bob and Neil Young performed together at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny. I wasn't there myself but I know people who were, and they all say that Neil performed Bob off the stage, out the gate, down the road and out of town. I'm not as old as Bob, but I am old, and I think modern music is largely terrible, but the old guys have been saying that for 70 years. The only thing that changes is the identity of the old guys. You guys will all do it too in due course. 🙂🙂

If you get him when he is into it and in a good mood, the show can be absolutely incredible as when I saw him in London in 2022. If he is bored and dislikes the audience, the show can be meh. A friend of mine said that Dylan was very good in Kilkenny but just kinda held back and played keys once Neil came on stage for a few numbers, he mentioned nothing about anybody saying Neil was trying to outperform anyone, as a matter of fact the encore was the highlight of the night according to him and others I talked with. So its not really that Dylan was outperformed, he just was being polite to a guest appearance and let Neil do his thing for a bit. Absolutely take you at your word about Bob in 2022 and in general in recent years. I don't know about Neil trying to outperform Bob, I presume he was just doing his best. And the reports I got were that Neil was excellent and Bob was disappointing.

He was really good but didn't do encores or shake fans hands or sign anything. He just got up and left as soon as the show was done. Do YOU own the 4' by 6' Perfect Illusion promo Poster? StrawberryBlond 13,934
I notice that it's usually rock stars who tend to take this elitist view of music. They love to trash electronic artists but I notice that electronic artists don't seem to say any rebuttals, same for hip hop artists. Maybe they would do well to realise that there are different genres for a reason, to cater to everyone's tastes? I love rock music but can't stand the elite attitudes of so many of its artists. This party line is repeated over and over, just in different words, it's not groundbreaking like they seem to think it is. Many of us will know of artists who fulfill all the criteria he lists but he didn't list them as his favourites. We can't listen to every artist out there so how we can say the ones with soul are rare? Our ears and minds interpret music differently so enjoy the music you like and don't feel the need to shame someone whose taste differs from yours. Someone asked him what he thinks about the subject and he gave an honest answer. Dylan was not forcing anyone else to subscribe to his opinion. Is it really a surprise that Dylan has an elitist view of music? he has always been anti establishment and that included the majority of rock music back in the day. If you ever listened to his radio show than you would know that Dylan is like a history book of musical knowledge, most of the artists he highlighted on his show I had never even heard of. The only thing I find funny is that anyone is surprised that a guy who literally made his name off of ripping apart the establishment would dislike the majority of mainstream music. He clearly does not hate pop music as a whole because he has said in the past he likes both Madonna and Cher. That sounds like classic Dylan, you never know what your gonna get. Most of the times I have seen him live, he hardly says a word. Then again, there was one cool time in 1999, he let a bunch of fans get up and dance with him on stage during Rainy Day Women.
