Often because they're not media trained and the media knows this, so they will ask them intentionally baiting questions to get an answer that they can turn into a headline. It's the same with the media asking all of these legendary directors what they think of Marvel. 

These creators come from a different era where they didn't need to be mindful of things like clickbait. The media was just as sensational, but the general public's media literacy was higher, it was usually pretty easy to tell what was spin and bait and what was not. They never had to learn or be mindful of how their words could be taken and spun.

More often than not, these legends are not taking swings at newer artists unprompted, they're being goaded into it and simply don't have the education on how things work in the media today to be able to swerve those baiting questions.

plenty of insanely influential artists have sampled and/or work in electronic music. In fact, it’s democratized music in many ways.

artists like bjork and Kate bush literally revolutionized music via their experiments with electronic music.

He’s not lying. What he is saying is super obvious and isn’t rocket science. Why are so many of you acting like he isn’t making sense? Popular artist rarely make high quality music. They make easy to swallow music. Music that isn’t too deep lyrically, or too complex musically. It has to be simplified for the masses to live it. It’s because the industry has become too focused on profit and money- that they now make the most basic and uninspired music- and the masses just swallow it up. 
 

He is also considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Just because you are Ignorant to the things he has accomplished, doesn’t mean that you have the right to downplay his artistry.

It's so weird to see the rockstars I grew up with become the very entity they fought so hard against.  Gene Simmons, Roger Waters, and Eric Clapton have said some incredibly out of touch things in the last few years that have absolutely baffled me.

I understand and partially agree with his point. But he was fortunate that there was a LOT more money in music back then and lesser known artists could afford to take artistic risks and still make money.

It's kind of ironic actually this man wrote these lyrics

I mean, I know he was writing about much more serious topic, social change and civil rights movement, but still it's a little ironic to me 

But still I appreciate him and his contributions to music and society. He seems very unique and interesting

I hate the days of digital music when we had to struggle to listen to music the day it dropped as not everyone is rich who can pay 10 dollars for every single cd released or just pray their song plays on radio or go look for illegal ways to download it.
