Katy has always brought pop perfection, I don't see why she has to change that. She once described music as a full course meal, and her style was the dessert.

noah fence to her but, everyone says witness is so different/”unsafe” but… it’s really not anything different tbfh ??

chained to the rhythm — sia song (insanely popular at the time)

bon apetit — migos feature (hottest rappers at the time)

swish swish — Nicki Minaj feature (well… nickis 95th collab or something idk)

was it unsafe because she cut off all her hair like Miley Cyrus 2 years prior or whatever? katy has never branched out once tbh

Well that's because her management did terrible single choices. Power, Tsunami, Witness, etc. should have been singles.

I think Pendulum should have been a single

Taylor Swift. All her music sounds the same.

I mean her first few albums are literally country bumpkin songs, compare Tim McGraw off her first album to You Need to Calm Down or Ready for It, it's definitely a complete 180, then went onto indie folk music and now dark moody pop.

Everyday Life & Coloratura say otherwise.

OT: a lot of male solo artists tend to stay in a comfortable sound since they're not forced to reinvent themselves constantly. For some of them that's ok since they're at a good enough level, some could really put in some work.

Why are people saying Beyonce? I think her team made an effort with Renaissance to go in a different musical direction than her past couple released.

Seeing some female artists you guys mention and denying their growth is incredibly offensive. Not every artist must reinvent themselves every era and come up with something completely different. Some have found a genre, or a style they're comfortable with and that's totally okay.

Compare their lyricism, their production or even their singing style and how it has evolved throughout the years. Is that not growth? Just because something is in the same (or similar) vein as their past work, it does not mean they haven't grown as artists.

PG.

Drake was the first person that came to mind.

Absolutely 0 growth as an artist.

I was gonna say the same but then I realized the thread was about artists.

I totally agree with you on this and I’m not even a fan. NFR is amaaaaazing and so much richer both lyrically and sonically.

I hate to say it but Ava Max :messga:

The lead up to Heaven & Hell was fun and the album was full of bops. Obviously her next album hasn't been released yet but it's feeling stagnant and similar in vibes so far

Spoiler

I was so excited for Heaven & Hell you have no idea :nooo: I literally have her autograph
