I believe it has gotten to be absurd personally. We live in a society where language is used to communicate. Saying your pronoun is Cloud for example doesn’t have any value in communicating and therefore is absurd to me.

And people aren’t owed respect. It has to be earned. And if being called a self invented pronoun is the starting point of me getting to know you (and I have to do mental gymnastics to remember how to talk to you), then I’ll take a hard pass and would rather not communicate with you.

Nobodies trying to defend unrealistic pronouns, that's very very small minority which I think we all agree is absurd. Like we can all agree that certain people who try to identify as another race are trolling or delusional. With Gender though that's a whole other story because there's much more ambiguity there to simply just label everyone as just him/her. The 'pronouns thing' isn't some collective effort, there's outliers but that shouldn't dismiss everyone else.

Trolls will push the "i identify as an attack helicopter" around intentionally to try and demean non-binary and trans folk which is exactly what Elon's intention is when he pulls this kind of ****.

There are even people in this thread who are saying that everyone should be addressed however they want. While I think that that is a very small minority it is enough for me to think that it’s better to just ignore them in the real world. I can’t relate to them and have no desire to try to.

As far as gender being more then him/her, I do agree with that. However, I don’t think that being non-binary is a useful solution. You can express yourself however you want even identifying in the binary. Not identifying as either is why identifying as anything has become a thing.

his name is literally musk istg he needs to just sit and eat his food. when are people going to understand that pronouns is just a simple, basic form of respect? if someone were to say, "hey, i prefer to be called this nickname", people are like, "okay!!! (: ". pronouns are no different. it's who you are and what you prefer to be known/ seen as/ etc etc. idk, i'll never understand the fact people can't even ATTEMPT to be conscious at the VERY least :saladga:

I think it’s neither good nor kind to entertain someone’s delusion that they’re a literal alien from outer space.

I didn't say you had to entertain them. In fact, I said it's for the best to not interact at all. Whether someone on the internet truly believes they are an alien from outer space, it's not your responsibility to call out to others how crazy you find it and how delusional they appear. You can spout whatever justification you'd like, but humiliating someone for their "delusions" is actively harmful.

Yeah but those people are likely alt-right people that are faking pronouns to harm the left.

Stuff like this isn't uncommon:

The above poster is an example of something the alt-right has fabricated to harm people.

i think liberals all need to boycott twitter so that it is rendered useless.

what elon doesnt realize that liberals control almost all media except fox news and now twitter

the conservative ideology is dying day by day, we denounce hatefullness, racism, sexism, and homophobia.

also when did being anti hate become a bad thing, is elon living in the early 1900s? he seems like the type of dude that would have been pro slavery........

also isnt it pathetic he spent 40+ billion to buy twitter and it would cost half of that to end homelessness in the US

his priorities are way out of place. hes destroying twitter and in a few years, it wont be anything more than something similar to truth social

💯

I think it’s counterproductive to the movement to entertain neopronouns that aren’t an existing part of language. It’s ridiculous and because the entire LGBTQ+ community is lumped together, this silliness reflects on ALL of us. It’s understandable why there is so much pushback against the community. There’s an attempt at changing people’s language they’ve used since they were born. It’s one thing for people to slowly come around on gay marriage, for example, because it largely doesn’t affect people who aren’t getting gay married, but inserting new pronoun practices, like the effort to make pronouns a part of introducing yourself to someone new, is absolutely and understandably going to receive pushback.

Sometimes I wonder if people expect to always feel gendered at any given moment and because they don’t feel that, assume they are NB or something. When in reality, none of us really feel like a specific gender, but just feel like a person.

While a lot of it is well intended, there is definitely an attempt at hijacking the movement to either be outlandishly “I’m not like the other girls/boys” or someone like the Club Q shooter trying to claim to it to dodge some repercussions while also making the community look bad. Or someone like Demi who (let’s cut the crap, we all knew it) was trying to change the negative press about her. Very few of us were shocked when she added she/her back in less than 6 months later.

Attention grabs like that just make cis-straight people roll their eyes (or worse). It’s understandable why there is pushback when they think that NB people don’t even know what pronoun they prefer. Using multiple gendered pronouns (he/she and they) is an even bigger pill to swallow. It doesn’t matter how many people truly identify as NB when some of the ones at the front of the movement and catching attention are making a complete mockery of it for clout. It’s hard to filter out the BS. But with gender being such an abstract thing, that’s hard to do.

Serious question: do u understand the people that use pronouns related to spiders or the galaxy?

To me, that has nothing to do with being non-binary or gender fluid.
